Huge shoutout to the top performing team in the CS301 IT Solution Architecture course! 🏆
This achievement would not have been possible without the hard work and teamwork of all 7 members from the BSc (Computer Science) cohort, comprising Darrius Ng, Anson Koh, Chai Yi Khuen, Jayden Teoh, Julian Dominic Liaw, Khoo Kar Xing, and Isaac Pua.
Read on as Isaac shares the inside scoop on how they built their winning project:

💬 "As part of CS301, our team developed a multi-agent system to support end-to-end KYC (Know Your Customer) and client onboarding workflows in a regulated banking environment. Our solution uses a central orchestrator agent to coordinate multiple specialised agents, each acting as a tool for tasks such as document extraction, compliance checks, risk scoring, portfolio ranking, and personalised recommendations. Human-in-the-loop review is built into the workflow to ensure accountability, auditability, and responsible decision-making.
After doing well in class, we had the opportunity to present our project at UBS's office, where we pitched our solution at our booth, shared ideas with their engineers, and learnt from their feedback and perspectives. We are grateful that our solution was eventually selected as the winning project for the $5,000 industry award.
What makes this especially meaningful is the people behind the project. This was a team built on friendship, trust, and many late nights of figuring things out together. I’m grateful to have worked with Julian, one of my day-one friends in SMU, and Kar Xing, whom I grew much closer to through this project and learnt a lot from.
I’m also proud that 5 out of 7 of us (Darrius, Anson, Yi Khuen, Jayden, and myself) are from the SMU Artificial Intelligence Club, supported by SMU Institute of Innovation & Entrepreneurship, reflecting how AI exposure, community, and friendships built beyond the club contributed to strong teamwork and excellence both in class and in industry.
A big thank you to UBS and their engineers, some of whom are SMU alumni, as well as SMU School of Computing and Information Systems, Lee Yeow Leong, our CS301 teaching team, Eng Lieh Ouh, Nitendra Kumar, and Yue Zheng Ting, for their guidance, support, and for making this opportunity possible.
Excited to keep learning, building, and applying AI to solve real-world problems!"
