Good teaching doesn't happen by accident. 👏

SIM Global Education Teaching Excellence Award 2025 recipient Daryl walks into every class with three things in mind. Keep it relevant. Give timely feedback that actually helps and make it fun!

As an Associate Lecturer at SIM University of London, he brings complex concepts to life with practical examples and real tools, so students don't just understand the theory, they know what to do with it.

Every opportunity to learn helps build confidence for the future.

By embracing challenges and making the most of his internship at DSO National Laboratories, Ng Xiang En secured a full-time role after graduation. His perseverance also earned him the SIM WILL Award, a programme under the SIM Impact Fund, recognising students who actively pursue internship opportunities and demonstrate a commitment to real-world experience and holistic development.

FinTech Youth Day 2026: 600+ youths, 1 vibrant industry, endless possibilities 🚀

On 27 July 2026, SIM hosted the FinTech Youth Day 2026 in partnership with the Singapore FinTech Association (SFA) and the Singapore FinTech Youth Chapter (SFYC). Gracing the occasion was Mr Alvin Tan, Minister of State for Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of National Development, who helmed the fireside chat and engaged the audience about AI and the future of work, and how fintech is creating new opportunities for youths.

The event saw more than 600 youths coming together to learn about the vibrant fintech sector and network over a full day session featuring 20 employers, 5 workshops, and mentoring sessions with 12 industry leaders from leading organisations. There were also 2 panel discussions, of which one of them featured SIM Academy CEO, Ho Seong Kim as a panel speaker.

One of our SIM-University of London (Computer Science) student, Chan Zhe Ming also had the opportunity to showcase his personal project – a Finance Tracker Bot, to Mr Alvin Tan and earned tips from him on how to scale up and enhance his bot. We hope that all participants were energised by the meaningful conversations that took place between aspiring talents and the professionals shaping Singapore’s fintech landscape.

A huge thank you to SFA and SFYC for the partnership, and our sincere appreciation to the employer partners, panel speakers, mentors, workshop facilitators, and every student who showed up curious and ready to learn.

At this year’s SIM-UB annual Faculty Appreciation Dinner, we celebrated the dedication of our local and visiting faculty, whose passion and expertise continue to inspire our students every day.

The evening also marked 22 years of partnership between SIM and the University at Buffalo (UB), and an opportunity to thank President Satish K. Tripathi for his 15 years of leadership and unwavering support in strengthening this longstanding collaboration, equipping students in Singapore with the knowledge, skills and global perspectives to succeed in an ever-changing world.

Here's to our faculty, our partners, and the many students whose futures continue to be shaped through this partnership.

When Janelle Low had the opportunity to study overseas, she made a deliberate choice to fully immerse herself in the experience. Instead of taking the more established exchange route, she chose the semester exchange at the University of Stirling. The decision allowed her to embrace a new environment, build friendships beyond her existing circle, and gain fresh perspectives from people around the world.

Supported by the SIM Study Abroad Award, a programme under the SIM Impact Fund, Janelle's four months in Scotland became a journey of growth. From adapting to a different academic culture and overcoming the challenge of falling sick far from home, to completing a half-marathon in Glasgow, every experience strengthened her resilience, adaptability and confidence. Not everyone walks in knowing how to code. And that's okay. What matters is what happens next.

Associate Lecturer Khong Wai Siang from SIM-RMIT University makes sure every student, regardless of where they start, gets there. Through visuals, live demos and real-world applications that make the complex feel possible.

And when students go from asking "what's the right answer?" to "what if we did it this way instead?" You know something special is happening. 💡 This is also why Wai Siang is also a SIM Global Education Teaching Excellence Award 2025 recipient.

✨ Creativity took centre stage as graduating students from the SIM–RMIT Bachelor of Design (Communication Design) programme unveiled Ctrl/Alt Assembly, a student-led graduation showcase celebrating their learning journey and final-year projects.

Held on 22–23 June 2026 at the Visual Arts Centre, the exhibition brought together the creative voices of 52 graduating designers, showcasing their unique perspectives through innovative and meaningful design work. Planned and executed entirely by the students, Ctrl/Alt Assembly was a celebration of creativity, storytelling, collaboration and the friendships built throughout their journey.

Reflecting on the exhibition, RMIT Programme Coordinator Regine Abos described Ctrl/Alt Assembly as a fitting finale to the programme’s 26-year legacy before it transitions to the new degree focusing on Experience Design.

For graduating student Aisyah Zharifah Krisna Putri, the most memorable part of the showcase was the connections made along the way. Best Concept Award recipient Hannah Teo Huihan also shared that collaborating with her peers to bring the exhibition to life was one of the most rewarding parts of the experience, and that sharing her project with the community made the achievement even more meaningful.

Congratulations to our graduating cohort on an inspiring showcase and this incredible milestone! 👏🎉

From self-doubt to leadership, Angel Fortuna Maharani’s journey is a reminder that growth goes beyond grades. As a SIM Award recipient and Data Science and Business Analytics student at SIM-University of London, Angel has embraced opportunities beyond the classroom, from volunteering and student initiatives to applying her skills to real-world challenges.

Through these experiences, she has discovered that growth comes not only from stepping outside her comfort zone, but also from creating opportunities for others. “Receiving the SIM Award was more than just recognition. It was a signal that I was heading in the right direction and that the effort I put into my studies truly mattered.”

Ever sat through a cybersecurity lesson and wondered... why does this even matter? 💻🤔

Probably not if you've had Zong Fu as your lecturer. 😄

As an Associate Lecturer of SIM-University of Wollongong and a SIM Global Education Teaching Excellence Award 2025 recipient, Zong Fu gets that not everyone learns the same way. Some need to do, some need to hear, some just need a good laugh to get going. And he brings all of that into the room. But what really sticks? Showing students the bigger picture. What a career in cybersecurity actually looks like in the real world.
