In our newly released 𝗣𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗜𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗲 𝟯𝟰, we share the vital role that the National University of Singapore Pharmaceutical Society (𝗡𝗨𝗦𝗣𝗦) plays in engaging the core student population of the Department of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences.

As part of our 65th anniversary celebration, past presidents share valuable insights, reflections, and the lasting impact of their leadership journeys.
In the first series, we spotlight👏:

• Associate Prof Chui Wai Keung, 24th NUSPS President, Co-Programme Director of BPharm (Hons), NUS;
• Dr Lim Siew Woon, 31st NUSPS President, Head & Director, Pharmacy, NUH;
• Mr How Ti Hwei, 32nd NUSPS President, Founder & Principal Advisor, The Impact Catalyst;
• Prof Eric Chan Chun Yong, 33rd NUSPS President, Deputy Head (Research), NUS Department of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences.

𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗵𝘂𝗶 𝗪𝗮𝗶 𝗞𝗲𝘂𝗻𝗴 gained global visibility and influence through professional societies and the World Health Organisation while 𝗗𝗿 𝗟𝗶𝗺 𝗦𝗶𝗲𝘄 𝗪𝗼𝗼𝗻 emphasised teamwork, advocacy, and humility in partnerships.

𝗠𝗿 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗧𝗶 𝗛𝘄𝗲𝗶 and 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳 𝗘𝗿𝗶𝗰 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗵𝘂𝗻 𝗬𝗼𝗻𝗴 highlighted how NUSPS nurtured leadership and personal development beyond the classroom – learning to collaborate, overcome challenges, and embrace growth.

We’ve just passed the mid-year mark! So much has happened in the first half of 2026, and in this issue, we’re all about reliving cherished memories and celebrating exciting new chapters.

PharmConnect Issue 34 (July 2026) is out now!

Dr Abdulrahman Aljuaid is a Pharmacist at King Abdulaziz University Hospital in Jeddah. He pursued the NUS Master of Science in Pharmaceutical Science and Technology (MPST) programme under the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Scholarship Program (Pioneers Track), to deepen his knowledge of pharmaceutical science and drug development. He believed the programme would equip him with the knowledge and practical skills needed to contribute to the continued growth of Saudi Arabia’s pharmaceutical sector and support the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.

"I hope to contribute to Saudi Arabia’s pharmaceutical sector in line with Saudi Vision 2030 through regulation, manufacturing, research, and innovation. As the first Saudi Arabian graduate from the full-time MPST programme, I hope my achievement will encourage more Saudi students to pursue the MPST programme and further strengthen the academic relationship between Saudi Arabia and NUS."

The Department of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at NUS is honoured to host Professor Clara Lau’s inspiring and engaging talk on “Research and Development of evidence-based Chinese Herbal Medicines for Cancer Management” on 10 July 2026. Prof Lau is Professor in Phytomedicine at the Department of Pharmacology and Pharmacy & School of Chinese Medicine at the University of Hong Kong. The talk attracted a diverse audience, including healthcare professionals, academics, researchers, students and members of the public.
