“I had plenty of opportunities to try new things, strengthen my hard skills, and grow as a content creator.”

For Gwendolyn, what began as an internship quickly turned into the start of a full-fledged career in digital media.

After completing RP’s Diploma in Mass Communication (DMC), Gwendolyn joined AsiaOne, a leading digital news platform in Singapore, as a full-time staff member. But her journey with the organisation started even earlier during her Industry Immersion Programme (IIP), where she was given the opportunity for internship.

The placement came with encouragement from her DMC lecturer, Ms Carine Leong, who recognised Gwendolyn’s potential and urged her to pursue the opportunity.

“To be honest, I never expected to work in a news organisation,” she shares. “But my IIP experience opened my eyes to the industry.”

Immersed in a fast-paced and dynamic newsroom environment, Gwendolyn discovered a passion for digital content creation. The hands-on exposure allowed her to experiment with different formats, sharpen her technical abilities, and build confidence in her craft. Her contributions and growth did not go unnoticed. Upon graduation, AsiaOne offered her a full-time position, which she accepted.

Eager to continue developing professionally while gaining industry experience, Gwendolyn enrolled in the Work-Study Post-Diploma (Specialist Diploma in Digital Content Creation for Business) from Republic Polytechnic School of Technology for Arts, Media and Design. Balancing full-time work with further studies, she successfully completed the programme this April.

Now a year into her full-time role, Gwendolyn hopes to continue learning and growing in the media industry, while working towards completing her Work-Study Post-Diploma. She also plans to pursue a degree in the future. Looking back, she is grateful for how each step has shaped her journey and opened doors she never expected.

“Growth begins the moment you decide it’s not too late to start again.”

At 50, Rosdiana Kwek chose to do just that.

Inspired by BTS and their visually rich music videos and large-scale live productions, she became drawn to the creativity and storytelling behind digital entertainment. What began as admiration for Korean pop culture soon evolved into a deeper curiosity about how immersive visual experiences are conceptualised and brought to life.

After joining the SGUnited Mid-Career Pathways Programme and progressing into a Digital Events Producer role, Rosdiana realised she wanted to go further. She took the leap to pursue a Part-Time Diploma in Design and Media (Digital Entertainment and Events) at Republic Polytechnic.

The journey was far from easy. Balancing work and studies while caring for her father after his heart attack, she faced burnout, exhaustion, and moments of doubt. There were times she nearly gave up but she chose to persevere.

Today, Rosdiana is carving out a new creative path with photography at its core, complemented by video production to deepen her storytelling. She is currently building a cohesive portfolio centred on travel and visual narratives, while developing an online gallery to showcase and sell her work. Looking ahead, she aims to grow her presence, expand into new creative formats, and explore opportunities within the travel and hospitality space.

Her journey is a reminder that growth is not defined by when you start, but by the courage to begin again. Congratulations Rosdiana!

“Taking on the role of Production Manager for a major graduation ceremony made me realise I can lead a team, work under pressure, and manage a full production,“ shares Republic Polytechnic School of Technology for Arts, Media and Design graduate Keerthana Ravi. “It gave me confidence in my skills and made me certain that this is the path I want to pursue.” 🎭

That defining moment during her studies at ITE College Central prompted her to secure a place at RP's Diploma in Arts & Entertainment Production Management through the Early Admissions Exercise (EAE). 🎯

“I chose RP because it offered the course closest to what I wanted to do,” she explains. “Even though my parents aren't from the arts field, they've always supported me, and that gave me the confidence to chase my passion.” 💪

Her dedication shows through consistent MOE awards and impactful production work. As Production Manager for her final-year project — Little Island's Shores by Sensory Circus — she created inclusive, neurodivergent-friendly experiences whilst managing Front-of-House operations and volunteers. 💗

“RP helped me find a clearer sense of purpose by giving me opportunities to work on real productions,” says the Beatty Secondary School - Non Vi Sed Arte alumna. “I realised that I'm passionate about being part of the production process and creating meaningful experiences for audiences.” 🙌

After graduation, Keerthana plans to explore opportunities in the events and marketing industries alongside her sports commitments. She also aims to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Marketing the following year, blending her production background with marketing skills to carve out a career in the sports events industry. 🚀

If you're looking to find your through EAE like Keerthana, join us at HeadStart@RP for tips from our Principal & CEO, Ms Jeanne Liew, on how to ace your application.

All eyes turned as Dr Syed Harun Alhabsyi arrived to officiate RP’s first Graduation Ceremony- marking the start of a season filled with milestones, pride, and new beginnings.

The hall settled into a quiet anticipation- one of those rare moments where you sense, even before anything is said, that something worth remembering is about to unfold.

As Senior Parliamentary Secretary for the Ministry of Education, Singapore and Ministry of National Development, he officiated the ceremony for Republic Polytechnic School of Technology for Arts, Media and Design (STA), officially kicking off RP’s graduation season. He arrived not just prepared in spirit, but in style too: his violet tie a deliberate nod to STA’s school colours.

In his address, Dr Syed Harun offered a reminder that resonated well beyond the stage: that creativity is not simply a matter of talent. It is a matter of courage- the courage to step forward, to persist, and to bring into the world ideas that genuinely matter. A simple message, and all the more powerful for it.

Principal Jeanne Liew and Board of Governors Chairman Abel Ang joined Dr Syed Harun as they met with our special award recipients. These were quietly personal moments- warm exchanges, proud families gathered close, and a palpable sense of reflection on how far each student had journeyed.

Among them was Faiq Faran, recipient of the Board of Governors Award for the Most Outstanding Graduate of the Year. Standing with his family beside him, it was clear that the achievement was never his alone- it belonged, in no small part, to those who had walked every step of it with him.

A defining highlight of the ceremony was the Passing of the Leaf. In this symbolic gesture, a bronzed, engraved leaf was presented to Alumni President Benjamin Alexander Chua- marking the transition of our graduates from being rooted within the institution to taking their place in a wider community. Their time as students has drawn to a close, but their connection to RP continues, in a new and meaningful form.

The ceremony also welcomed back familiar faces. RP alumni returned to the stage as The Mad Trio, a band that first came together during their student years. Led by Khim Ng, their song- built around themes of hope and possibility- brought warmth and energy to the hall. It was a fitting moment: graduates watching those who once stood exactly where they now stood, and catching a glimpse of what lies ahead.

Graduation is often spoken of as an ending. But standing in that hall, it felt far more like a beginning.

To our graduates- you arrived with questions, you grew with , and you leave ready to shape with what comes next. The world is waiting.

shines a little differently today- for the Purposeful Game-Changers of Republic Polytechnic School of Technology for Arts, Media and Design and Republic Polytechnic School of Sports and Health - RP SSH.

Two different paths, one shared journey.

Some of our graduates learned to tell stories. Through film, design, sound and stage.

Others learned how people grow stronger and healthier- through sport, health management, and the science behind every movement.

They practised, pushed, and tried again. And slowly, they grew surer of themselves.

Graduation is not just a moment on stage. It is every step that came before it- the early mornings, the long nights, the people who stayed, helped, and believed.

If you see someone you recognise, tag them. Let them know you saw their moment.

To our graduates- this is not the end. Just a new page. Stay connected with the RP alumni community: alumni.rp.edu.sg

“As an architect by profession, I’ve spent my career designing dream houses and offices. Now, I help students build their dream careers. That’s what keeps me going.”

From blueprints to brighter futures, Christopher Tapia, Senior Lecturer at Republic Polytechnic School of Technology for Arts, Media and Design, is redefining what it means to design with purpose.

Christopher’s approach to education is rooted in authentic partnerships and learner-centred design. So when his Final Year Project students took on the challenge of designing a Library of the Future for Greenwood Primary School, learning went far beyond the classroom.

Under his guidance, students from the Diploma in Design for User Experience (DDUX) immersed themselves in empathy work with pupils, teachers, and librarians to uncover real needs and translate them into meaningful design solutions — from makerspaces and collaborative zones to inclusive quiet study areas.

The project later earned RP an MOE Innergy Award for its impact on curriculum innovation and capability building. Reflecting on over 20 years in education, Christopher shared in a recent CNA feature, “What I love about my work is making a difference. RP's focus on problem-based learning really resonated with me. It's not a one-way teaching experience — it's about learning together, solving real problems, and growing through experience.”

At STA, theory meets practice every day. Our industry-experienced lecturers nurture future-ready design leaders who think beyond the brief to create through human-centred innovation.

“My journey in music and audio production began in RP, where I was given the space to explore my musical and creative identity, guided by lecturers who truly supported my growth,” shares Republic Polytechnic School of Technology for Arts, Media and Design alumna Azurah Jan Che Onn Azahar, known professionally as AJ. “After graduating, returning to RP as a founder of an incubated startup felt like coming full circle.” ✨

After graduating in 2018 with a Diploma in Sonic Arts, AJ founded Avocado Jam Studio, curating intimate live experiences and creative productions while mentoring young musicians seeking their own voice in the industry. 🎤

“I noticed a gap that many creatives face. Most freelancers begin alone, figuring things out as they go,” explains the Zhenghua Secondary School alumna. “But running it as a business is another story, and they need the right support and a strong community to create something more impactful than just chasing projects.” 💪

This insight also led her to co-found The Freelancers Academy (TFA) — a growing community that helps freelancers and solopreneurs turn independent work into structured and sustainable businesses. Through mentorship, learning programmes, and peer support, TFA equips creatives to navigate the gig economy and grow beyond working alone. 🚀

AJ's story shows what's possible when applied learning, creativity, and the right support come together. From curating intimate music experiences to creating support systems for solopreneurs, she's a passionate community builder committed to creating . 🤝
