Big congratulations to Sung Kah Kay Assistant Professor Jialin Li and NUS Computing alumnus Dehui Wei, whose paper HyperEdge just won the Outstanding Paper Award at NSDI '26! 🏆

Big congratulations to Asst Prof Flavien Solt from the Department of Computer Science, who received a Distinguished Paper award at the 2026 IEEE Symposium on Security and Privacy.

His team built a tool that automatically hunts for hidden data leaks between processes that are supposed to be completely walled off from each other, the kind of leaks that matter a lot when your data shares a server with someone else's. They found four new ones, including a serious one on AMD chips.

As Prof Solt puts it: "Testing for this class of leak has depended on intuition for years. Giving vendors a systematic way to find them is a forward-facing contribution of this work."

Congratulations to Provost's Chair Professor Hock Hai Teo and Professor Chuan-Hoo Tan, whose co-authored paper has won the Youth Achievement Award at China's 10th Ministry of Education Award for Outstanding Scientific Research Achievements (įŽŽååąŠæ•™č‚ēéƒĻį§‘å­Ķį ”įĐķ䞘į§€æˆæžœåĨ–.

The paper, "Rural-Urban Healthcare Access Inequality Challenge: Transformative Roles of Information Technology", examines how health information technology can help close the gap in healthcare access between rural and urban China, and what happens when it doesn't.

It's the paper's second recognition, following the Information Management Research Award from the Chinese Economic Society in 2024.

Eu En Wong, Justin Cheah, and Natasha Koh set out to fix one of education's most persistent problems: teachers buried in marking, students waiting too long for feedback that's too thin to act on.

Ren Education is their answer – an hashtag tool that drafts marks and personalised feedback for every student, while keeping the teacher in control of every decision.

Since launching, Ren has reached more than 5,600 students across 12 institutions in Singapore, including a pilot at NUS Computing and the inaugural Mendaki Aspire programme.

Inspired by the musical form where voices imitate each other in rounds, Canon matches purpose-built accelerators on their home turf while staying flexible enough for whatever comes next. Meet two NUS Computing alumni quietly making Singapore more multilingual – one government website at a time.

Harish Venkatesan and Hsu Zhong Jun are part of the team behind Polyglot, an AI-powered translation widget that lets Singaporeans read government content in Chinese, Malay, and Tamil. It launched recently on the MDDI and Smart Nation websites, with the longer-term goal of making translations a standard feature across all government websites.

We sat down with both of them to hear about their NUS years, why they chose public service tech, and what it means to build something most users will never know exists.

We're proud to share that four Singapore students, trained through the National Cybersecurity Olympiad (NCO) Singapore pathway, delivered an outstanding performance at the International Cybersecurity Olympiad (ICO) 2026 in Tunisia, competing against teams from 20 nations.

All four came up through NCO, Singapore's national pathway to the ICO, launched in 2025 by Associate Professor Sun Teck Tan and now organised annually by the Centre for Nurturing Computing Excellence (CeNCE).

Jason Matthew Suhari turned down summer internship offers for something less certain: six weeks at Founders, Inc.'s Off Season II in San Francisco, building his own startup, Fluent, an AI agent that lets people control their computer using only their voice.

Along the way, he entered the Y Combinator AI Growth Hackathon at Y Combinator's San Francisco office and won, building Peel solo in 24 hours, while having a nosebleed. ðŸ˜Ŋ

But Fluent is still where his focus is, with a consumer launch planned for July 2026. 🙌
