Thank you to everyone who joined CyberFest @ NUS: Where Fun Meets IT Security! 🥳

uTown came alive as students and staff had fun while they took on our mini-games, from spotting phishing traps to building stronger passwords. Those who completed all the challenges earned a sure-win spin-the-wheel prize that ranged from Grab vouchers to bITbIT plushies. That’s not all! Everyone enjoyed byte-sized treats of cotton candy and popcorn!

CyberFest may have ended, but our commitment to keeping NUS safe continues. Let us stay cyber-smart together, bIT by bIT!

NUS IT was invited to speak at EDUtech Asia 2025, where we shared how AI, connectivity and innovation are shaping the future of higher education! 🥳

Chan Hse-Ming (Director, IT Applications) joined the panel on navigating the Gen AI revolution with speakers from NTU, Lenovo, StarHub and Mapua University.

Irving Kwok (Head, Enterprise Services) presented how NUS empowers staff through our AI strategy and AI-Know.

Nelson Wong (Head, Network) shared how private 5G at NUS enables seamless, mobile and adaptive learning.

Exciting times at the GovInsider Festival of Innovation! ✨

Our CITO Shui-Min joined a dynamic panel with Dr. Diana Jayasauri, Patrick Lau, Sai Kuan Yuen, and Varun Thamba on "Leveraging GenAI to Enhance Employee Engagement." Together, they explored how GenAI creates personalised experiences, accelerates training, and empowers development. As Shui-Min shared, "Embrace lifelong learning and fly high on the 'agentic' wings of AI!" 🚀

A huge shoutout to our department for receiving a Special Mention Award in the AI-Ready category for our AI-Know suite! Out of a record-breaking 171 nominations across 13 categories, this recognition celebrates our journey to make NUS AI-ready. Proud to be leading the way in digital innovation! 🥳

We had the privilege of hosting the Institutes of Higher Learning (IHL) CIO Forum Business Meeting at NUS IT, where IT leaders came together to share insights and innovations!

It kicked off with insightful welcome remarks by Alvin Ong, Chairman of IHL CIO Forum, followed by an engaging deep dive into NUS IT’s Green Procurement Framework. Attendees also got to experience the future of learning through an exciting virtual reality showcase by John Yap and had a hands-on go at CyberQuest—our latest gamified cybersecurity learning experience!

Here’s to more meaningful collaborations, where IHLs continue to be hubs of innovation, learning, and inspiration for the future! 🎉

At Zoom’s Executive Forum last week, our CITO, Tan Shui-Min, joined an esteemed panel alongside:

🔹 Velchamy Sankarlingam, President of Product and Engineering at Zoom
Moderated by Cathy Yum, Head of APAC Marketing, Zoom

The panel discussion, "AI Trends Shaping the New Year: Strategies for 2025 and Beyond," was an engaging session with insightful questions from attendees—both in person and virtually via a live feed from Zoom Hong Kong!

When asked about the most exciting AI trends shaping higher education, Shui-Min highlighted the game-changing potential of AI-driven Mixed Reality (MR). "Imagine nursing students training with AI-powered virtual patients, geography students experiencing earthquakes of varying intensities, or chemistry students manipulating 3D molecular structures—all in an immersive, interactive MR environment!"

By integrating AI into MR, we can push learning beyond static scenarios into truly adaptive, engaging, and hyper-realistic experiences. We are excited about the infinite possibilities this brings to education! 🚀
