Proud moment for SSH! 🌟

Our lecturer, Sujata Rajaram, recently participated in the Singapore Palliative Care Conference, where she presented two impactful posters:

✨ Transforming End-of-Life Education through Ethics, Law and Experiential Learningβ€¨βœ¨ Embedding Death Literacy and Compassionate Communities

Sujata shared that many of the insights in her presentations were shaped by her industry attachment with the Singapore Hospice Council.

Through this experience, she gained deeper exposure to Singapore’s efforts in end-of-life education, hospice advocacy, community engagement, and the ethical, legal, and communication challenges faced by practitioners, families, and communities.

These valuable learnings have since been integrated into SSH’s S252 Health, Ethics and Law module, helping to strengthen our students’ understanding of end-of-life care within Singapore’s multicultural context. πŸ’™

SSH hosted 4 teachers and 25 students from The Knox School, Australia, for a 2-week Project-Based Learning programme focused on sports and health πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸ’‘

Through hands-on projects, industry consultations, and collaborative learning, the Year 10 students (15-16 yr olds) sharpened their critical thinking πŸ€”and problem-solving πŸ” skills before wrapping up with project showcases and reflections.

A meaningful global learning experience for The Knox School students that built both knowledge and industry-relevant skills 🌍✨ Their time in RP will help them assess if they want to pursue sports science studies in Year 11 to 12.

β€œLifelong learning means working on yourself and having the courage to blossom into who you aspire to be.”

Shakthishree’s journey is driven by a curiosity to explore fields that are meaningful and versatile. With a background in the arts, she made a purposeful decision to pivot into healthcare after recognising its growing importance in today’s world. She enrolled in RP’s Specialist Diploma in Integrated Care Management to deepen her understanding of social systems and people-focused care.

Coming from a creative discipline, she sought to complement her artistic perspective with clinical knowledge. Modules such as Leadership and Outcome Management, and Integrated Care and Singapore Health Systems strengthened her ability to think critically and holistically, while projects like Communication and Health Coaching allowed her to apply creativity when engaging individuals from diverse backgrounds in clinical settings.

She attributes her perseverance to a strong commitment to self-care, as well as the encouragement of her family, teachers, and friends along the way.

Today, Shakthishree applies the empathy and professionalism she developed through her studies in her work, supporting the individuals and communities she serves. She continues to seek opportunities for growth, with plans to participate in overseas programmes supporting vulnerable communities.

Her advice to anyone considering a change, starting afresh, or returning to school: β€œGo for itβ€”there’s no expiry date or age limit to begin. It’s one of the bravest and most self-aware decisions you can make. Trust that inner urge!”
