What happens when AI meets future energy systems? 🔋⚡

Assistant Professor Qiu Dawei has spent years exploring exactly that developing smarter ways for electricity systems to remain reliable, affordable, and sustainable in a low-carbon future.

Now joining NTU EEE, his research spans:
✔️ Renewable energy integration
✔️ Electricity market design
✔️ Power system resilience
✔️ AI and reinforcement learning for energy systems

But beyond the research, Asst Prof Qiu is also someone who enjoys hiking, football, and basketball — and believes impactful engineering should always stay connected to real human needs.

Welcome to NTU EEE, Asst Prof Qiu! 🌏

was pleased to host Mr Liu Shunxing, Chairman of Concord New Energy Group Limited (CNE Group), alongside Ms Lucy Luo, Admin Director of CNE Group, today for an appreciation event in recognition of his establishment of the Liu Shunxing Bursary.

Made possible by Mr Liu’s gift of $160,000, the bursary marks his first contribution to the School and will support financially needy EEE students in pursuing their academic journey with greater confidence and opportunity.

As part of the visit, Mr Liu and Ms Luo were introduced to NTU EEE and toured the SP Group-NTU Joint Laboratory and the Water & Energy Research Laboratory, gaining insights into the School’s research strengths, innovation efforts, and industry collaborations.

With Mr Liu’s deep experience in the energy and power generation sector, the visit also reflected meaningful alignment with NTU EEE’s strengths in energy systems, power engineering, and sustainability, opening up possibilities for future collaboration.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Mr Liu for his generosity and commitment towards supporting aspiring engineering talents. 💙❤️

🎉 Induction Fiesta 2026 is back!

Our future EEE and IEM students got a glimpse into life at last weekend through a day filled with academic sharing, student stories, campus hunts, and interactive games.

With Grab vouchers, lucky draw prizes, and plenty of opportunities to connect, the event also marked the beginning of new friendships and shared experiences. 💙❤️

💬 “Despite minor hiccups along the way, the event went smoothly and it was a fulfilling journey! We saw many happy faces and hope to see them in August!” shared Tay Yuyun Gladys, Chairman of Induction Fiesta 2026.

💬 “You’ll love this event for meeting new people. It ran incredibly smoothly and included plenty of creative activities to bond with our upcoming classmates,” shared New Joo Wei, an attendee who has accepted a place at EEE.

A heartfelt thank you to EEE Outreach for organising this meaningful welcome into university life.

We look forward to welcoming everyone to campus soon!

✨🎙️ Distinguished Speaker Series | Professor Ju Li from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)

NTU EEE was delighted to welcome Prof Li yesterday for his talk, “AI and the Future of Scientific Research,” where he discussed the impact of AI and self-driving laboratories on clean energy research.

From robotic high-throughput experimentation to large language model-based hypothesis generation and AI-driven active learning, he shared how these rapidly advancing technologies could enable scientific research to be carried out at a much larger scale. 💡

Prof Li is a chaired professor at MIT. His team’s research spans the mechanical, electrochemical, and transport behaviours of materials, alongside novel approaches to energy storage and conversion. He is also a Fellow of the American Physical Society, Materials Research Society, and American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). 🌍

Thank you, Prof Li, for an insightful session that sparked thoughtful conversations on the role of AI in research and innovation. ❤️💙

🇨🇦✈️ Rayson Oon’s Spring Semester Exchange in Vancouver, Canada became much more than just an exchange programme.

What he expected to be a few months of studying at the University of British Columbia (UBC) soon became an experience shaped by new cultures, unfamiliar roads, national parks, and a 10-day solo drive from Seattle to San Francisco.

Along the way, the journey challenged him to adapt, grow independently, and see the world from a different perspective. 🌎

💬 “The most memorable part of the road trip was the struggle driving through winding roads and dirt tracks - but it was worth it when I was rewarded with scenic, serene places in the national parks and along the Pacific Coast.”

Take a closer look at the experiences and reflections that shaped Rayson’s exchange journey in this post. 💙❤️
