🎓Congratulations, Chemistry Class of 2026! 🧪

Last Saturday, we marked a special milestone at our Homecoming Lunch Gathering, welcoming the Class of 2026 to their very first event as NUS Chemistry alumni, alongside fellow alumni from the Class of 2025. 💙

It was a wonderful opportunity to reconnect, exchange memories, and celebrate the achievements and experiences that shaped your journey to graduation. Your hard work, resilience, and passion have brought you to this proud moment, and we couldn't be more excited to celebrate it with you. 🎓✨

✨ May your future be filled with exciting opportunities, new discoveries, and continued success.

Once again, Congratulations, to Class of 2026! 🎉🥂

What does baking a cake have to do with building the chips that power AI?

For alumnus Dr Doreen Yong, a chemist at Applied Materials Southeast Asia, semiconductor manufacturing is a lot like baking. It requires the right ingredients, precise measurements and careful timing. The difference? Instead of a cake, she's creating the microscopic materials that allow computer chips to work better.

But her work isn't only about faster, more powerful technologies. At the earliest stages of semiconductor research, she helps develop materials that improve both chip performance and manufacturing sustainability.

“This work appears invisible but it shapes what technologies are possible and will ultimately influence how people experience technology in their daily lives,” she says.
