POV: Visiting an NUS alumni at the Microsoft HQ in Seattle 🤯💻✨

One of our NUS students, Azzahra Binte Osman (Year 3, Arts & Social Sciences), got the chance to step inside Microsoft’s headquarters and meet NUS alumnus Dr Tok Wee Hyong (Computing ’00, Science MSc ’02, Computing PhD ’09), who hosted the visit and shared his journey from NUS to Microsoft. 🌎🚀

She also got to experience firsthand what goes on behind the apps we use every day. 👀Safe to say… the global tech dream is very real.

Does running a business and being in a relationship equate to couple goals or chaos? 👀💸💙

Desiree Chang (Arts & Social Sciences ’25) and Matthew Tan (Year 3, Arts & Social Sciences) did both — turning a shared love for thrifting into Woofie’s, from pop-ups to a full-on store.

Between NS, school, work and late-night “what are we doing tomorrow” chats, they figured out how to build something together without losing each other along the way. 🫶

🎓 Does seeing these moments bring back memories of your own graduation season at National University of Singapore?

Last week, campus has once again been filled with excitement, reflection and celebration as graduands collected their gowns on campus and prepare for Commencement. Many of them are experiencing the same emotions that generations of NUS alumni once felt themselves.

It was a joy welcoming so many students to the NUS Alumni Relations booth at MPSH 1 and sharing this meaningful milestone with them.

For the Class of 2026, this marks not only the completion of their time as students, but also the beginning of their lifelong journey as part of the global NUS alumni community.

Congratulations once again to all our graduands — we look forward to celebrating this special occasion with you soon. 💙

Sometimes the most meaningful career conversations happen outside the classroom. 🌿

In the relaxed surroundings of Singapore Botanic Gardens, students and alumni came together for open conversations about careers, uncertainty, internships and life after graduation.

From recent graduates navigating their first jobs to experienced alumni sharing perspectives shaped over decades, the event created space for honest exchanges, mentorship and connection beyond formal networking settings, which was the intent of the event organised by NUS Students' Union's Alumni Relations and Community Engagement Unit.

Thank you to all our alumni who returned to share their experiences and support the next generation of the National University of Singapore community. 💙

National University of Singapore (NUS) continues to rank among the world’s leading universities, with 28 subjects placed in the global Top 10 and 39 subjects in the Top 20 in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026 — making NUS the only university outside the US and UK to achieve this breadth of excellence.

We are deeply grateful to our NUS alumni community for the many ways you continue to contribute to this journey — as mentors, educators, researchers, industry leaders, innovators, advocates and lifelong ambassadors of the University.

This achievement reflects not only academic excellence, but also the strength of a global NUS community that continues to create impact across industries, disciplines and borders. Thank you for being part of the NUS story and for helping shape the future with us. 💙🧡

From growing up during the Japanese Occupation to becoming a respected orthopaedic surgeon, educator and leader in the medical community, Dato’ Prof Dr Abdul Hamid Abdul Kadir (Medicine ’66) has spent a lifetime in service to others. 🩺✨

An NUS alumnus whose journey was shaped by resilience, mentorship and generosity, Dr Abdul Hamid continues to give back today — as a practising surgeon, educator, writer, and President of the Medical Alumni Association.

His story is a powerful reminder that the impact of an National University of Singapore education extends far beyond the classroom — living on through the lives we touch, the communities we serve, and the generations we guide.

We are grateful for alumni like Dr Abdul Hamid, whose lifelong commitment to medicine, ethics and education continue to inspire those around him.
