🎓 Curtin University Alumni Singapore Chapter (CUASC): Stronger Together

The heart of CUASC has always been our people — alumni who show up, contribute, celebrate wins, and support each other through every career journey.

A picture of the protemp committee which re-ignited CUASC in 2008 was shared recently amongst long-time CUASC exco members and supporters.

Little was known that the first pro-temp committee meeting was held at Kallang McDonald’s and the fire to serve continued to grow stronger as the newly formed exco rallied and forged closer collaboration with the university, culminating with the setting up of an alimuni office which subsequently doubled up as a student career cente at the then Jln Rajah campus.

Hundreds if not thousands of hours were sacrificed by these volunteers over the years to build a solid foundation for the growth and success of the Singapore chapter that we have today.

Volunteers often come and go. However there are only a few who have the true passion to give back and serve their alma mater with heart, are selfless and work quietly behind the scenes to make things happen; all these without seeking self-gratification, and without any personal agenda. True unsung heroes whose actions on the ground speak volumes.

As we draw closer to the end of 2025, we are also getting into an exciting new season. We’re strengthening our efforts in student engagement, working closer with our alma mater, community building, mentorship, and industry collaboration. Whether you’ve just graduated or have been part of the Curtin family for decades, this is the perfect time to reconnect.

👉 Join us, re-engage, and let’s shape the future of our alumni network together. Stronger ties. Bigger impact. Brighter opportunities.

🎉 Proud Moment for the Curtin Alumni Singapore Family! 🎉
We are deeply honoured to be awarded the Most Outstanding Alumni Association at the Australian Alumni Singapore 70th Anniversary Dinner! 🇦🇺🇸🇬

Our story is one of passion and people. CUASC was founded back in 1993, and truly came alive again in 2008 when Curtin set up its campus in Singapore. Then CUASC President Jason Chan passed the leadership baton to Edmund Seng who rebuilt and revitalised the chapter together with a group of dedicated Exco members over a duration of 12 years before handing the baton to Paul Tham and now James Chen.

None of this would have been possible without our amazing ExCo — Matthew, Melvin, Boon Soo, Paul, Chris, Eunice, Dheeraj and many others. Thank you for showing what teamwork, friendship and service look like.

From launching mentoring programmes and a campus career centre, to forging industry ties and supporting student life — our alumni truly live the Curtin spirit of giving back and growing together. Special thanks to Haja Ma**ca for being a wonderful partner on campus in those early days.

And of course, heartfelt appreciation to our Curtin leaders — Prof John Neilson, Prof Robert Evans, Prof Linley Lord and PVC Prof Alex Stojcevski — and to Curtin Singapore, Curtin University and Australian Alumni Singapore for walking this journey with us.

CUASC today stands as a family built on trust, leadership, and a passion to serve. And like the saying goes — Rome wasn’t built in a day. Neither was our community. But what a journey it has been — and the best chapters are still to come.

Thank you, Curtin family. Here’s to building more memories, more impact, and welcoming new faces soon! 💛

🎓 Curtin Alumni Sundowner – Celebrating Connections, New and Old

What a night! đź’«
The Curtin Alumni family came together once again — high above the city lights at Skai Suites, Swissôtel The Stamford — for an unforgettable evening of stories, smiles, and sunsets! 🌇

With over 120 alumni, students, and university leaders joining in, the event was a beautiful reminder of what makes the Curtin community so special: connection. Whether it’s catching up with old friends or making new ones, these moments strengthen the bond between past and present, between alumni and current students, and between the community and the university that unites us all.

It’s not just about reliving memories — it’s about building the future together. 💛 From inspiring conversations to heartfelt laughter, every interaction showed just how powerful our Curtin network can be when we stay engaged and involved.

Here’s to keeping that Curtin energy alive — one event, one friendship, and one sunset at a time. ❤️

🎶 Celebrating 60 Years of Australia–Singapore Friendship! 🇦🇺🇸🇬

What an incredible evening at the 60th Anniversary Commemorative Gala, hosted by the Australian High Commission together with the University of Adelaide, Griffith University, University of Melbourne, the Singapore Armed Forces Central Band, Royal Australian Air Force Band, and NUS Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music.

This evening’s event was a unique. The world premiere of “Threads: chamber concerto for fifteen musicians” by Connor Fogarty was nothing short of spectacular — a beautiful metaphor for the threads of connection that continue to weave between Australia, Singapore, and our global alumni communities. 🎵

This event struck a special chord as it reminds us that our alumni networks are not just about professional connections, but shared values: collaboration, friendship, learning, and the joy of growing together. ❤️

And yes, it was wonderful to reconnect with long-lost alumni friends — proof that the Curtin and Australian alumni spirit truly stands the test of time.

đź’ˇ Fun facts to impress your orchestra-loving friends:
🎺 The SAF Central Band performs at state ceremonies and global festivals — representing Singapore’s discipline and artistry.
🎷 The RAAF Band is one of Australia’s oldest ensembles, with performances ranging from jazz to ceremonial music worldwide.
🎻 The YST Conservatory holds 200+ performances a year, shaping Asia’s next generation of musical talent.

Here’s to 60 years of Australia–Singapore partnership, and to many more symphonies of collaboration, friendship, and shared success ahead! 🥂

We are delighted to announce that Mr George Yeo will be our esteemed Guest-of-Honor at our 68th Anniversary Gala Dinner. Mr Yeo dedicated 23 years of his career to the Singapore Government, serving in various key ministerial positions, including Minister for Information and the Arts, Health, Trade & Industry, and Foreign Affairs from 1988 to 2011.

In 2012, the Australian Government honored Mr Yeo, by conferring upon him one of Australia's highest distinctions, appointing him as an Honorary Officer of the Order of Australia (AO). This accolade was in recognition of Mr Yeo's outstanding contributions to Australia-Singapore bilateral relations and his instrumental role in the establishment of the Singapore-Australia Free Trade Agreement (SAFTA).

We eagerly anticipate Mr. Yeo's presence at our gala, and we are excited to strengthen our relationships during the event. For more information about the gala, please visit the following link: https://aas.glueup.com/event/aas-68th-anniversary-gala-dinner-85658/?pk_campaign=widget-event-list
