𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐲 𝐯𝐞𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐬⚡

NTU Singapore, through the Energy Research Institute @ NTU, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Elonroad, ALBA W&H Smart City and Scania to advance the evaluation of automatic conductive stationary charging for electric heavy vehicles in Singapore. The MoU was signed during a State Visit by President Tharman Shanmugaratnam to Sweden. It was signed in the presence of President Tharman, His Majesty King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden, Mr Andreas Carlson, Minister for Infrastructure and Housing, Sweden, Mr Masagos Zulkifli, Minister for Social and Family Development of Singapore, and Jan Larsson, and CEO of Business Sweden.

ERI@N has been working closely with Elonroad AB, a Swedish electric road charging specialist to advance smart charging technologies for sustainable mobility. Together with our new partners ALBA W&H Smart City and Scania, we will work towards supporting fleet electrification for a greener transport ecosystem.

Elonroad, which leads the charging technology for Project GreenFreight, will coordinate the application to LTA under its Sandbox for Electric Vehicle Charging Systems. ERI@N will support the initiative through research and pre-compliance testing, while ALBA will serve as the use case for the project with Scania supporting the installation of the charging technologies on Scania vehicles.

We are excited to continue our partnership with Elonroad, and look forward to working with our new partners to advance more sustainable mobility solutions.

𝐉𝐨𝐢𝐧 𝐮𝐬 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝐑𝐈@𝐍 𝐄𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐲 𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐫 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐮𝐦 𝐚𝐭 𝐀𝐂𝐄𝐒 2026!

The Asia Clean Energy Summit (ACES), part of the Singapore International Energy Week (SIEW), will gather regional thought leaders in both the public and private sector to collaborate on critical issues and opportunities in harnessing clean energy for Asia's energy future.

As a co-organiser of ACES 2026, ERI@N will be hosting an Energy Frontier forum on 27 October. Through speeches and two focused panel discussions, the Forum will explore AI, innovations, technologies, infrastructure, policies & partnerships needed to future-proof energy systems for a sustainable tomorrow.

The forum, jointly organised with Tata Consultancy Services will feature prominent speakers including Keith Tan, Deputy Secretary (Energy, Carbon and Corporate), Ministry of Energy, Trade and Industry, Singapore.

ERI@N hosted Eugene Toh, Assistant Chief Executive (Energy Technologies), Energy Market Authority (EMA) and his team for an exchange on ERI@N’s research, innovation and translational efforts.

ERI@N’s Executive Director, Prof Madhavi Srinivasan, shared key projects and research highlights. The session enabled us to better understand EMA's latest challenges and priorities for Singapore's energy landscape, and discuss potential areas where ERI@N’s translational research capabilities could contribute to supporting Singapore’s energy transition.

ERI@N welcomed Prof Ric Parker, Chairman of the Advanced Energy and Decarbonisation Office (AEDO) Technical Committee, who visited to learn more about ERI@N's research, innovation and translational work.

Prof Madhavi Srinivasan, ERI@N's Executive Director, shared about ERI@N's key projects, along with our upcoming plans and areas of research. Having been involved in ERI@N’s journey over the years, Prof Ric has witnessed the Institute’s growth over the years and our continued efforts to advance innovation, translate research into real-world applications, and strengthen industry and research partnerships. Following an earlier session at ERI@N, Energy Market Authority (EMA)'s Chief Executive Puah Kok Keong, Assistant Chief Executive Eugene Toh and colleagues visited ERI@N’s Electrification and Power Grids Centre (EPGC) - one of the most comprehensive integrated energy test facilities in Singapore and the region.

Hosted by ERI@N's Executive Director Prof Madhavi Srinivasan and supported by ERI@N colleagues, we showcased EPGC’s ongoing projects and activities, as well as the facility’s testing capabilities to our EMA colleagues.

Together with Ocean Energy Systems / International Energy Agency (IEA), ERI@N is co-organising an international technical workshop on AI-based Ocean Energy Forecasting.

Coordinated by ERI@N's Programme Director, Dr. Srikanth Narasimalu, the workshop will bring together researchers and experts with particular emphasis on improving short, medium and long-term resource and power forecasting by exchanging advances in forecasting algorithms, modelling techniques and data-driven methods.

The Grundfos team led by Anders Johansson,Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer recently visited the ERI@N to deepen their understanding of NTU Industry collaborations and explore new areas of collaboration.

Hosted by NTU VPI Prof Shirley Meng and ERI@N's Executive Director Prof Madhavi Srinivasan, we shared more about NTU's industry partnerships and ERI@N's translational local and global testbeds. ERI@N's Programme Director Alex Chong, also shared updates on the Sustainable Water-based Cooling in Megacities (SWiM) project, a collaboration between ERI@N, GRUNDFOS, Aalborg University and Aarhus Universitet, and showcased the project’s testbed.

We also brought the delegation to the AUMOVIO-NTU Corporate Lab Corporate Lab to learn more about their research activities, as well as the ERI@N's Electrification & Power Grids Centre.

It was a wonderful engagement to exchange ideas across areas including energy efficiency, cooling and sustainable energy systems. We look forward to continuing our strong partnership with Grundfos as we explore how our combined expertise can address real-world sustainability challenges.
