Upsilon Eta Chapter, Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing Upsilon Eta Chapter is based in Singapore. Our chapter was chartered on 12 July 2007 by Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.

A warm welcome to Sigma Theta Tau International, Upsilon Eta Chapter, Singapore! This year, in January 2022, we proudly installed Associate Professor Zhou Wentao, and introduced her as our Chapter President. With the support from the Board of Directors and members, our President aspires to fulfil our organizational mission through various scholarly activities. Our sincere th

anks to our immediate past president, Assistant Professor Shawn Goh, for his excellent contributions during his time in office. The Upsilon Eta Chapter is committed to foster high professional standards in the nursing profession through education and leadership development. The Covid-19 pandemic is a wake-up call, exposing global inequalities in societies. There is a pressing need to collaborate and work together through bold actions. Our main mission over the next 2 years is to foster interdisciplinary collaborations to facilitate key decisions about our profession, populations and planet, targeting three domains of Economics, Technology, Conservation. ✨ Upsilon Eta Chapter, Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing Webinar Series Recap I Machine Listening in Heart Failure: Translating Voice into Clinical Insight ✨

On Saturday, 17 January 2026, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, we were honoured to host an enlightening Webinar session featuring Dr. Jiyoun Song, who presented her cutting‑edge work on how machine listening, speech recognition, and natural language processing can reshape heart failure care.

We were thrilled to welcome more than 60 participants who joined us for this cutting‑edge topic exploring how AI can elevate patient–care communication and support clinical decision‑making.

🎙 Key Insights from Dr. Song’s Presentation:
🔍 How speech recognition models can capture conversational patterns that influence patient and caregiver outcomes
💬 Approaches to extracting emotional and relational cues from patient–care coordinator interactions
🩺 Opportunities to integrate speech analytics into clinical support tools for early detection of clinical deterioration in heart failure

The session was graciously hosted by Mr Jeffrey Woo and Ms Lilian Yew , who facilitated a rich and dynamic Q&A discussion, drawing thoughtful insights from participants and sparking meaningful dialogue.

✨ 2025 AGM Highlights & What’s Ahead for 2026! ✨

On 20 December 2025, Ms. Lilian Yew , Chief Nurse of Raffles Hospital, delivered an inspiring presentation titled: “Integrate, Innovate, and Inspire: Nursing Leadership in Action.” The session offered powerful insights into the critical role of nursing leadership in improving patient outcomes, explored how integration and innovation drive effective leadership, and shared practical strategies to lead with confidence and inspire excellence.

Our 2025 AGM was a great success! Key highlights include:
✔Prof. Zhou Wentao expressed appreciation to all Board of Directors for their contributions during 2024–2025 and thanks Hong Kong PolyU for hosting the Asia Sigma Conference in 2025.
✔Congratulations to Jeffrey Woo , who will assume the role of President of Upsilon Eta Chapter, and Ms. Lilian Yew, who will step up as Vice-President.
✔Special thanks to Lilian for representing Upsilon Eta Chapter at the Biennial Sigma Convention and presenting her abstract.

We successfully held our 2nd Board of Directors meeting for 2025 on September 6th via Zoom, where our President, Wentao, shared exciting updates and future plans for the Upsilon Eta Chapter, Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing— including the upcoming two Chapter Research Initiatives in 2026 headed by Woo and Brigitte Woo 胡芳溶.

🎓 In addition to two insightful webinars scheduled over the next two months, we’re proud to celebrate the achievements of our distinguished members:
