Guided by this year’s theme, “𝙄𝙂𝙉𝙄𝙏𝙀. 𝙄𝙉𝙎𝙋𝙄𝙍𝙀. 𝙄𝙉𝙉𝙊𝙑𝘼𝙏𝙀.”, the NUS-ISS 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗟𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗼𝗻 was a celebration of the people, partnerships and shared ambitions driving our journey forward.

We were honoured to welcome 𝗗𝗿 𝗦𝘆𝗲𝗱 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝘂𝗻 𝗔𝗹𝗵𝗮𝗯𝘀𝘆𝗶 , Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Education, Singapore (MOE) and Ministry of National Development Singapore, as our Guest-of-Honour.

In his address, 𝗗𝗿 𝗦𝘆𝗲𝗱 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝘂𝗻 𝗔𝗹𝗵𝗮𝗯𝘀𝘆𝗶 highlighted the importance of growing alongside AI, ensuring that technology empowers people to do better work while continuing to strengthen their expertise and judgement. He also emphasised the role of industry partnerships in making AI capabilities accessible across professions, beyond the technology sector.

These reflections resonated with our continued efforts to equip professionals with future-ready capabilities, strengthen industry partnerships and help organisations navigate an evolving digital landscape.

Congratulations to our NUS-ISS 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗠𝗲 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗔𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗛𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗻 winners, 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝘀 (SME Category), 𝗤𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗯𝗼𝗻𝗱 (Public Category) and 𝗠𝗼𝘀𝘀 (SME Ready Award) for their innovative solutions to real-world business challenges. Most organisations are still in the early stages of AI adoption, focusing on individual productivity rather than enterprise-wide transformation. The harder challenge lies in rethinking how people, processes and AI work together to deliver meaningful business impact.

At the recent 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗲𝗹'𝘀 𝗕𝗶𝗴 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗙𝗶𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗮 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, 𝗠𝗿 𝗗𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗲𝗻 𝗖𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 (Chief, AI Strategy & Organizational Transformation Practice, NUS-ISS ) joined a panel of experts to discuss "𝙇𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙒𝙤𝙧𝙠𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙘𝙚 𝙏𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙨𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝘼𝙄 𝘼𝙜𝙚 - 𝘾𝙪𝙡𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙄𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙞𝙜𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙪𝙤𝙪𝙨 𝘾𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙚".

As AI agents become part of the workforce, Damien highlighted four priorities for leaders navigating this shift.

• 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗮 𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁 where even senior leaders can question assumptions and admit, "I don't know."
• 𝗥𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 by defining human judgement, responsibility and oversight as AI agents join the workforce.
• 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻 before determining what AI can take over.
• 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗔𝗜 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 as organisations move towards AI agents, governance and measurable business impact.

The next phase of AI transformation will test how effectively organisations build trusts, redesign work and lead people through change, not just how quickly they adopt technology.

Three weeks ago, over 𝟰𝟬𝟬 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀 came together with one challenge. 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘂𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗔𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗔𝗜 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗱𝗼 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗠𝗘 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗺𝘀.

Since then, teams have been building, testing, iterating and refining their ideas.

Today, that journey reached its final stretch at the 𝗡𝗨𝗦-𝗜𝗦𝗦 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗠𝗲 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗔𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗛𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗻 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝗺𝗼 𝗗𝗮𝘆.

From 𝟭𝟭𝟱 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺𝘀, just 𝟭𝟬 𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝘀 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘀, earning their place to present their solutions in front of our judging panel. Across the demos, we saw different takes on how Agentic AI could be applied to real business challenges, with teams exploring practical ways to improve workflows, support decision-making and create value for SMEs.

None of this would have been possible without the support of our partners Amazon Web Services (AWS) and the Singapore Business Federation (SBF), who helped bring the hackathon to life and support the journey from build sprint to Finale Demo Day.

And while today puts the spotlight on our finalists, this journey has been shaped by many people along the way.

A huge thank you to our Qualifying Round judges Mr Calvin Chu, Mr Kenneth Zhu, Ms Neha Kumar Saraf, Mr Wilson Wan and Dr Wang Yun Long for rigorously assessing each team’s problem, solution and technical ex*****on, and identifying the standouts for the Finale.

And to our Finale judges Ms Amy Huang, Mr Brandon Lee, Mr Lee Yee Fung, Mr Luis Carlos Cruz Huertas, Mr Shamir Rahim and Mr Vishesh Kumar, thank you for bringing your experience and industry perspective to the final round, and for evaluating the real-world potential of each solution.

A special shoutout as well to the 𝗡𝗨𝗦-𝗜𝗦𝗦 𝗦𝗼𝗳𝘁𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺, led by Dr Esther Tan, for supporting participants throughout the build sprint.

And to every team that took part, thank you for taking on the challenge, experimenting boldly and turning ideas into something real.

The sprint may be over, but the bigger goal remains. To keep turning emerging technology into practical solutions that can help Singapore’s SMEs work smarter, move faster and create new possibilities for growth.

As supply chains become more connected, the challenge is no longer just optimising individual operations, but enabling organisations across the network to make better decisions together.

At the recent 𝗬𝗖𝗛 𝗔𝘀𝗶𝗮 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗹𝘆 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, 𝗗𝗿 𝗟𝘆𝗲 𝗞𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗪𝗲𝗶 (Principal Lecturer, AI Strategy & Organizational Transformation Practice, 𝗡𝗨𝗦-𝗜𝗦𝗦) joined industry experts for the panel discussion on 𝘼𝙄, 𝙋𝙡𝙖𝙩𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙁𝙪𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙎𝙪𝙥𝙥𝙡𝙮 𝘾𝙝𝙖𝙞𝙣 𝙀𝙘𝙤𝙨𝙮𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙢𝙨.

Dr Lye shared how AI could support this coordination, from decision support to helping balance competing objectives through agreed and fair mechanisms.

He also highlighted that 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗯𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵. Governments, industry, technology providers, academia and research all have a part to play in building the digital, data and governance foundations needed for greater connectivity.

As AI continues to reshape supply chains, the bigger opportunity may not simply be to automate more, but to help the entire network work better together.

At some point, technical expertise stops being the only thing that moves your career forward.

For 𝗠𝗿 𝗥𝗮𝗴𝘂𝗹 𝗥𝗮𝗺, that meant learning to think beyond delivery and make sense of the bigger picture around strategy, transformation and business impact.

The 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 (𝗠𝗗𝗟) programme at NUS-ISS became part of that shift, challenging how he approached problems and prepared for broader leadership responsibilities.

A partnership built over time. An impact measured in people.

NUS-ISS was honoured to join the 𝗡𝗖𝗦 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸-𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝘆 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗱𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 at NCS Hub on 1 October, celebrating the achievements of NCS Group’ graduating work-study cohorts.

The partnership was formally established on 23 August 2019, when NCS Group and NUS-ISS signed a Memorandum of Understanding to nurture digital talent and develop the workforce of the future. Seven years on, that commitment continues to deliver meaningful outcomes through Nucleus, NCS Group ’ work-study programme.

Through NUS-ISS’ stackable learning pathways, 𝗡𝗖𝗦 employees can progress from Graduate Certificates towards a NUS Master of Technology degree, while applying their learning directly to real-world projects.

The impact to-date speaks volumes. 1,706 Graduate Certificates have been attained by 𝗡𝗖𝗦 employees, while 68 employees have earned a NUS Master of Technology degree in Software Engineering or Enterprise Business Analytics , including 61 graduates at the July 2026 NUS Commencement.

At the celebration, 𝗡𝗖𝗦 CEO 𝗠𝗿 𝗦𝗮𝗺 𝗟𝗶𝗲𝘄 also acknowledged NUS-ISS for the partnership and its continued role in supporting the professional growth of 𝗡𝗖𝗦 employees. Representing NUS-ISS at this special occasion were our Chairman 𝗠𝘀 𝗝𝗮𝗻𝗲𝘁 𝗔𝗻𝗴, CEO 𝗠𝗿 𝗞𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗠𝗲𝗻𝗴, Deputy Chief Executive 𝗠𝗿 𝗩𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗵𝘂𝗮, Director of Graduate Programmes 𝗗𝗿 𝗟𝗲𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝘂𝗻 𝗞𝗲𝘄, and NUS-ISS colleagues.

AI can make an organisation more productive. But it can also expose where the organisation is not ready.

That was one of the themes shared by 𝗠𝗿 𝗩𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗵𝘂𝗮, Deputy CEO of NUS-ISS , during the panel discussion 𝙄𝙣𝙫𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙞𝙣 𝘼𝙄 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙋𝙚𝙤𝙥𝙡𝙚 at the 𝗡𝗨𝗦 𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗙𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲.

As Victor put it, 𝗔𝗜 𝗮𝗱𝗼𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗯𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗮𝗻 𝗫-𝗿𝗮𝘆. 𝗜𝘁 𝗼𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗻 𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗺𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲.

Build a chatbot, for example, and it may quickly expose that knowledge is scattered across emails, chats, documents and people’s heads. The challenge is then not simply AI readiness. It is knowledge management.

AI may also reduce the time needed to draft a proposal from weeks to minutes. But if the proposal still takes weeks to move through layers of review and approval, the bottleneck has simply moved elsewhere.

The question, therefore, should not only be: “𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘄𝗲 𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗔𝗜 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲?”

It should first be: “𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗺 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝘁𝗿𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗲?”

The discussion also explored what AI means for people and learning.

As AI takes on more routine work, organisations need to think carefully about how people will still build judgement and expertise.

Learning is not always meant to be efficient. It needs struggle, toil, mistakes and sometimes even apparent non-productivity.

From a productivity lens, that friction looks like something to remove. From a learning lens, 𝗶𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗳𝗲𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲, 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗮 𝗯𝘂𝗴.

And as AI becomes more capable, perhaps what becomes rare is not knowing what AI knows, but having 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗮𝘆, “𝗡𝗼, 𝗜 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗲.”
