University-YMCA, affectionately known as Uni-Y, is the university service club of YMCA of Singapore. Uni-Y was first established in SMU in 2005, NUS in 2007, NTU in 2009 and SUTD in 2016. MISSION:
To develop and empower youth to be servant leaders who will impact our local and international communities
TARGET AUDIENCE:
All university students regardless of religion or race, who desire to serve th
e community, and Christians who want to put their faith into practice. Through the creation of opportunities for servant leadership in community service and international programmes, working hand-in hand with YMCA of Singapore, Uni-Y seeks to prepare each individual to embrace volunteerism as a way of life and to excel in all that we do. Our OBJECTIVES are:
a) Providing volunteering platforms to create tangible social impact in the local and international communities
b) Providing opportunities for holistic enrichment through self-discovery, skill enhancement, and leadership development for each Uni-Y member
BASIS OF EXISTENCE:
YMCA of Singapore is a volunteer-based Christian organisation that seeks to serve and impact all members of the community, regardless of race, language or religion, through programmes, services and enterprises to develop the body, mind and spirit. Uni-Y seeks to fulfill the mission of the YMCA of Singapore to nurture community champions by providing volunteering platforms for university students to receive holistic enrichment while creating positive social impact. Singapore Youth Award 2014:
For its exceptional humanitarian efforts and outstanding contribution in cultivating a spirit of volunteerism and leadership amongst the youth of Singapore, University-YMCA Singapore (Uni-Y) was conferred the Singapore Youth Award 2014, the nation’s highest accolade to honour exceptional young people who enrich the hearts and souls of the community and bring distinction to the nation. The award was presented at a ceremony held at the Istana on 6th July 2014.
