This project was started in 2001 when students wanted to build a racecar to participate in the FSAE intervarsity competition in USA. It has since evolved into an important educational component in our Engineering Faculty. Formula – Society of Automotive Engineers (F-SAE) is an annual inter-varsity competition organised by the Society of Automotive Engineers. It is an engineering design competition

where undergraduate students design, build and test a Formula-style race car and compete with universities from around the world. Every year, NUS Formula SAE has an average of 14 undergraduates involved in the project. These students design, fabricate, assemble, test and drive a brand new car over a period of 11 months. In the last month, they have the opportunity to fly to Michigan, USA for the annual FSAE race car competition. Apart from competing, with university students from around the world, in dynamic events such as acceleration and endurance, the students also pit their skills in static events such as design presentation, cost evaluation and marketing strategies. Evaluating them is a panel of professional automotive and motorsports engineers from around the world. The most rewarding part of the NUS FSAE race car project is providing students with a wealth of engineering knowledge and experience as well as practical hands-on skills to prepare them for working life. On top of that, the students are involved in project and finance management, further preparing them for a real-life engineering career. Students also learn to manage and balance time between the project, studies, and their loved ones. Most importantly, they learn the importance of teamwork, governance, and the impact of time schedules in their unified quest for excellence.

Meet the team behind the R26e. 🏎⚡️

Every late night in the workshop and every stressful test session was building up to this moment. We couldn't have pulled this off without the sheer dedication of this incredible team.

Huge thanks to Emeritus Professor Seah Kar Heng for your constant guidance and support from day one.

Here’s to the countless hours, the late-night fixes, and the people who made every second count.

Putting the R26e on the rig. 🔧 We’re running the new monocoque through its torsional rigidity test to validate our chassis stiffness targets. A stiffer chassis means razor-sharp handling when it counts. Stay tuned for the final numbers! 🏁

After months of design and manufacturing… We are proud to officially unveil the R26e! 🏎

Now equipped with BorgWarner Cascadia Motion’s CM200DX inverter and a brand new lightweight carbon fibre accumulator enclosure with a higher cell count, the R26e is ready to go faster than ever.

Peep the new sidepods 👀 which have been added to improve thermal performance, ensuring the driver is able to push the car to its limits. It doesn’t stop there; lighter suspension components and optimised geometry allow superior grip and handling while the aerodynamic package ensures the car cuts through air cleanly.

After all that, the R26e still weighs in at a low 199kg, with a monocoque design that optimises driver comfort and structural rigidity.

We can’t wait to see you all on track! 🏁

The NUS FSAE team was invited to participate at the F1 Community Event at the 2025 Singapore Grand Prix. We would like to extend our gratitude to Singapore Tourism Board for this incredible opportunity to meet local motorsport talents and guest-of-honor MOS Alvin Tan 陈圣辉, and for hosting us at the Vanda Suite. It was truly unforgettable to experience the cars this close, and we have been motivated to drive towards higher goals.

The NUS FSAE team recently held an event to show appreciation for our sponsors and celebrate with our families. We are deeply grateful for the support from our valued sponsors and family members, without whom our project would not have been possible.

During the event, we had the honor of sharing our journey with our guests. The programme included speeches from our distinguished Guest of Honour, CDE Dean, Professor Teo Kie Leong, our own Faculty Advisor, Professor Seah, and R25e Powertrain Lead Mohamed Haris. The evening concluded with a dinner where sponsors, loved ones, and alumni had the chance to connect and enjoy meaningful conversations.

Reflecting on the event, we are filled with gratitude. It was a fitting way to mark the milestone of the R25e. As we shift our focus to the upcoming R26e, we look forward to building even stronger partnerships with our sponsors and supporters.
