What opportunities lie ahead for our scholars, and how can we help them make the most of whatβs ahead?
Over two enriching days, 30 NYP LUMINA APEX scholars had the opportunity to broaden their perspectives, build essential skills and learn from experienced leaders and mentors.
In collaboration with the NUS-Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, our scholars took part in a Futures Thinking Workshop, where they learnt to anticipate emerging trends, explore future scenarios and navigate uncertainty. At the Governance in Practice Workshop, they stepped into the shoes of policymakers, learning to evaluate public policies while considering different and sometimes competing perspectives.
The experience culminated in the launch of the LUMINA APEX Mentorship Programme, designed to support our scholarsβ leadership development and prepare them for opportunities beyond their scholarship. A highlight was a specially curated fireside chat with NYP Principal & CEO Mr Russell Chan, who shared valuable perspectives from his journey as a Public Service Commission (PSC) scholar and leader.
Our scholars also learnt firsthand from six distinguished alumni mentors and lead mentor Mr Christopher, Director of People Development at NCSS Singapore, who guided them through a case study session involving analysis and presentations. Beyond putting their critical thinking and communication skills into practice, the session gave our scholars valuable insights to help them prepare for future scholarship applications.
Through these experiences, we hope to give our scholars not just the skills to seize future opportunities, but also the confidence and guidance to make the most of them. We look forward to seeing our LUMINA APEX scholars continue to grow, lead with purpose and shape the future! β¨
