What does AI innovation actually look like in practice? At , it looks like this. 👇
On 15 May, Jasmin Lau 刘洁敏 , Minister of State for Digital Development and Information & Education visited our campus to see how NYP students and industry partners are building AI solutions that are already making a difference in the real world.
At the NYP–Microsoft Centre for Applied AI (C4AI) at NYP School of Engineering , she saw a robot tour guide helping visitors navigate Singapore's museums 🤖, smart tools helping small businesses handle compliance paperwork automatically, and a real-time assistant helping retail staff serve customers better. These are real projects, built by NYP students and staff, already in use.
She also visited the Centre of IT Innovation (CITI) at Nanyang Polytechnic School of IT (NYP SIT), where our AWS AI Nexus Lab, built in partnership with Amazon Web Services, enables students to work directly with companies on real-world AI solutions while supporting SMEs in accelerating digitalisation.
A shoutout to our industry partner, Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry (新加坡中华总商会 SCCCI), for co-creation of the AI Enablement Programme. It made many of these innovative projects possible, including one where local SME Auto Machinery Singapore (AMS) partnered our student Yu Xiang to build an AI system to digitise motorcycle catalogues.
It's a glimpse of the kind of hands-on, industry-connected education that prepares learners for the jobs and challenges of tomorrow.
Want to see what else our students are building? Come find us at on 5 & 6 June!
