Spotted something eye-catching at Ten Square and Wilkie Edge? That’s the work of NYP’s learners! 👀

To mark Singapore’s 61st birthday, 15 adult learners from the Specialist Diploma in Digital Media Production at NYP’s School of Design & Media - NYP SG teamed up with Ten Square and Plan B Media to create synchronised anamorphic content for the LED screens at Ten Square and Wilkie Edge, as part of NYP’s first dual screen public media installation.

From concept development to motion graphics production, the learners brought their ideas to life on large-scale public screens while gaining hands-on experience in digital out-of-home (DOOH) media. It was an opportunity to apply what they had learnt to a live industry project and contribute creatively to the National Day celebrations. ❤️🤍

Is AI really replacing jobs - or just changing how we work?

Many people see AI in extremes: either it's irrelevant, or it's taking over everything. The reality may be somewhere in between.

As AI takes on more repetitive tasks, uniquely human strengths like experience, human judgement and problem-solving becomes even more valuable. The question is: how can you stay ahead and make AI work for you?

Hear more from Bee Kheng, AI practitioner and School of Engineering lecturer, as she shares insights during her session on "Navigating Career Pathways in the AI Era", where she'll unpack emerging career pathways in the AI era, and practical ways to future-proof your skills in an increasingly AI-driven world.‌

Join us at the "Career Switch Series: Build Future-Ready Skills for a Sustainable, AI-Driven World" event and get inspired!

♻️ Let's make saving the planet less boring.

Meet Pourpose, an interactive recycling bin created by four Year 3 students from NYP | School of Engineering's Diploma in Engineering with Business (now know as the Diploma in Sustainability in Engineering with Business) in collaboration with Science Centre Singapore and Shell. Drop in a bottle and be greeted by a meme sound. 🔊 Then, hit the big red button to unlock a fun recycling fact. Who says recycling can't be informative and entertaining too?

The team realised that the biggest challenge with recycling isn't
awareness, it's motivation. Using NYP's Design Thinking approach and the NXplorer feasibility funnel, they transformed an ordinary blue recycling bin into a fun and rewarding experience designed for Gen Z. Drawing on skills in coding, sensors and electronics, and with access
to the NYP Makerspace, they brought their idea to life and found a
creative way to encourage greener habits.💡🌱

👏 Big shoutout to Bestian Tan, Alicia Tan, Chew Jia Xuan and Mohammed Jasmir for showing how creativity and innovative thinking can turn everyday challenges into solutions that make a real impact.

Ready to take your learning beyond the classroom? Unlock new possibilities through NYP's University Pathway Programme (UPP)! 🚀

NYP's Diploma in Electronic & Computer Engineering alumna, Lim Qing Ying, took part in the NYP-SUTD UPP University Immersion Project, one of the pathways under NYP's new initiative, Go Beyond. The initiative empowers students to explore exciting opportunities beyond their diploma journey.

Qing Ying gained firsthand experience working alongside SUTD students on uni-level projects such as the Electric Additive Manufacturing (eVAM) 🏎️ The experience also opened doors for her to secure a conditional offer to pursue Engineering Systems and Design (ESD) at SUTD, a perfect fit for her passion for solving real-world engineering challenges.

✨ Her advice to the ? Say YES to opportunities like UPP to experience something beyond a typical FYP, collaborate with uni students, and discover opportunities you never knew existed. Go for it!

🚨What goes on behind the scenes when an emergency call comes in?
Our NYP alumni and current students got an exclusive behind-the-scenes experience at Sengkang Fire Station, where they explored fire engines up close and discovered how emergency response teams operate when every second matters. 🚒

They also heard from our very own alumna, Eileen Chew, now a Paramedic Specialist and graduate of NYP's Diploma in Health Sciences (Paramedicine), who shared her career journey from student to frontline lifesaver, and what it's really like responding to emergencies.

As part of Student Life Academy+ (SLA+), an alumni-exclusive initiative that extends learning beyond graduation,  gains access to curated workshops and unique experiences that encourage lifelong learning, meaningful connections, and personal and professional growth.

Our students helped bring National Service to life, in a whole new way.

If you've ever wondered what NS is really like, from the perspective of NS men, NSFs, active servicemen, and even parents, there's a new podcast series you'll want to catch. "The Call Up" is a four-episode series produced in partnership with the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) and hosted by Mr Gavin Kinch, Principal of Anglo-Chinese School (International) and member of the Advisory Council on Community Relations in Defence (ACCORD).

And behind the scenes? Our own NYP students from the Diploma in Media & Communication Management. From scouting filming locations at Singapore Discovery Centre to managing a live outdoor shoot with nine on-camera participants, including Mr Zaqy Mohamad, Senior Minister of State for Defence, our students took on the full production, set design, filming, and two months of editing.

It's no small feat, and it's exactly what the diploma prepares them for. Beyond media production skills, students are also trained in communication and business management, giving them the range to manage real clients, real timelines, and real responsibility, the kind of well-rounded experience that earned MINDEF's confidence in our students as capable media partners.

They even brought their own Gen Z creative touch to the series, making conversations about NS feel fresh and relatable for younger audiences.

🎥 Episode 1 is out now! Catch it (and the next three) on MINDEF's and We Are Total Defence's social media platforms: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLBMMd4mHz1P4 Stay tuned!

Proud of what our students built. 👏

Big shoutout to everyone who joined our Innovation Workshop: 3D Printing—Where Ideas Come to Life!

Ever imagined turning your ideas into a real object? You made it happen. ✨
Students went full-on engineer mode—spotting real-world problems, sketching bold ideas, building CAD models, and bringing their designs to life through 3D printing.

Then came the glow-up 🔥 Testing, gathering feedback, and levelling up their designs, just like real product developers. From sleek phone stands to unique cable organisers and smart study hacks, everyday frustrations turned into real, functional solutions. 🙌

This hands-on workshop was all about experimenting, improving, and pushing your ideas further. Here, ideas don’t just stay ideas. We empower you to innovate, take the lead, create real solutions, and bring them to life.

Hope you had a blast. See you at the EAE interview. 👀

Meet Charlotte Fong, our Distinguished Award Winner and recipient of the Ngee Ann Kongsi Award for All-Round Achievement ✨

Charlotte applied through the Early Admissions Exercise (EAE) and
secured her place in NYP’s Diploma in Accountancy & Finance even
before taking her O Levels. She carefully picked out her best achievements to show what she’s really good at and why she’s a great fit for the course. Smart move ✅

She received uni offers from NUS and NTU, and chose to pursue a
Bachelor of Accountancy at SMU on an Accountant-General’s Department (AGD) scholarship 🎓🔥

Looking back, Charlotte is grateful she applied through EAE, giving
her the confidence and peace of mind to focus on her O Levels.
Her advice, “Find out what the school is looking for in each course,
then show those traits through your achievements.” 🫡
