Repost from NUS CNCS

Did you know that many of Singapore’s birds are also nature’s gardeners?

By feeding on fruits and dispersing seeds, they play a vital role in helping our local forests regenerate and thrive. Join us for an engaging afternoon exploring the fascinating relationships between fruit-eating birds and trees in Singapore’s forests! 🐦‍🔥🍒🌳🌲

This event is organised by the NUS Centre for Nature-based Climate Solutions (CNCS) and kindly supported by HSBC.

Hear from ecologist Fung Tze Kwan about the hidden relationships between birds and trees, as she shares stories from the field and surprising wildlife discoveries.
The sharing is followed by a panel discussion featuring experts from academia, the public sector, and nature community, who will share insights into Singapore’s native birdlife, how research is helping to inform long-term forest restoration and conservation policy, and how everyday citizens can play a role in supporting biodiversity conservation in Singapore.

Let’s flock together for an afternoon of birds and biodiversity! 🕊️🦜🦅

🗓️ Date: 5 August 2026, Wednesday
🕰️ Time: 3.30pm - 5pm (registration opens at 3pm) Light
refreshments will be provided after the event.

Today is Day 🌎

Every stripe is a year. The shift from blue to red tells the story of our warming planet - and the urgency of the moment we're in.

At the National University of Singapore (NUS), climate science research is gaining momentum, driven by the launch of the NUS Sustainable Futures initiative in May last year. The initiative brings together expertise across the university's research ecosystem to foster interdisciplinary and cross-sector collaborations in tackling climate change challenges. Read more here:

Repost from
🌳 Happy World Environment Day! 🍃

Amid the hustle and bustle of campus life, did you know that our NUS Kent Ridge campus is also home to more than 165 wildlife species, including hornbills, butterflies, and monitor lizards? 🦜🦋🦎

Our campus supports a rich diversity of flora and fauna that contributes to a vibrant ecosystem in the heart of our community.

Building a thriving campus ecosystem takes continuous effort. Through initiatives such as smart tree-tracking technology 🌳, rooftop gardens 🪴, rain gardens 💧, and rewilding projects 🌱NUS is creating more green spaces that bring nature closer to everyday campus life, while building a more sustainable campus where both people and nature can thrive.
