University of Southern Somalia The idea of the University Southern Somalia (USS) was originally conceived in 2002 by a group of Somalia scholars and intellectuals in the United States.

the region has important historical and archeological sites. In 1980s several archeological missions undertaken by both Somali and western archeologists found human remains that date back several thousand years despite experiencing one of the most horrible human tragedies during the early years of Somalia civil war, Baidoa once known as "City of Death" has rebounded, and it is now stable region ev

en though there is Chronic Lack of income and employment opportunities devastated all echelons of the community, particularly young generations (boys and girls) with no apparent professional skills after completions of the secondary education due to lack of sufficient access to higher education as a result of the civil unrest took place in past twenty years and unavailability of higher education institutions. It has well organized Secondary schools and more are in planning stages. Given these opportunities, it is the right time to initiate an institution of higher learning in the region. USS is an idea who time has come to fruition after money years of searching of the right plan of action and people to implement it.
