We are pleased to celebrate the publication of a research article by Abokor Hassan, from the School of Postgraduate Studies and Research, University of Burao, titled:

“The mediating role of organizational culture and employee motivation in the relationship between transactional leadership and organizational commitment.”

Published in Discover Education (2026), the study examined 278 faculty and administrative staff across four public universities in Somaliland.

Main Findings

The study found that transactional leadership positively influences organizational commitment, both directly and indirectly through organizational culture and employee motivation. These findings highlight the importance of clear performance expectations, fair rewards, effective communication, employee recognition, and professional development in strengthening institutional commitment.

Why It Matters

This research provides useful evidence for universities and policymakers in Somaliland to improve leadership and working environments, strengthen employee motivation and retention, and ultimately support quality higher education and institutional development.

On behalf of the School of Postgraduate Studies and Research, University of Burao, we warmly congratulate Abokor Hassan on this important scholarly achievement.
