The Institute of Modern Languages (IML) proudly reflects on its participation in the SIMAD University Council Strategic Retreat held on 25โ26 March 2026 at Chaka Ranch, Kenya.
Bringing together university leadership under the guidance of the rector, Dr. Abdikarim Mohaidin Ahmed , the retreat marked a significant step toward operationalizing SIMAD Universityโs Strategic Plan 2026โ2030. Through engaging discussions, scenario-based exercises, and adaptive leadership sessions, participants aligned on a shared vision for a more coordinated, innovative, and impact-driven institution.
A central theme echoed throughout the retreat: true progress depends on how well ideas are put into action. This was reinforced by the collective commitment to translate plans into measurable actions across all divisions and units. The approval of a new dashboard system to enhance transparency and track progress further reinforced this shift from vision to action.
Beyond the formal sessions, the retreat provided a valuable space for reflection, collaboration, and renewed purpose. It strengthened leadership alignment and reinforced SIMADโs direction as a research-driven, entrepreneurial, and digitally enabled university.
As IML, we are inspired by this momentum and remain committed to playing our role in advancing SIMAD Vision 2030โturning ambition into action and contributing to meaningful impact for our students, institution, and community.
