Things are becoming worse
I left South Sudan when $100 was equivalent to 44,500 SSP. Yesterday, I heard that 100 US Dollar was equivalent to 60,000 SSP in the black market, and now it's shocking to hear that the exchange rate has been increased to 90,000 SSP per $100, making our SSP to plummet uncontrollably against the US dollar.
On a viral document circulating on social media, I learnt that $100 is now equivalent to 90,000 SSP. If this is a reality then, be alert that this is not a laughing matter. It's a serious situation that requires special attention! It doesn't matter whether you receive your salary in US dollars or SSP. This is a national emergency!
My mind is thinking about those who are going to bed hungry just because they cannot now afford a loaf of bread. There are many people in Juba now who cannot afford to buy water for household use. It's painful to think about this! 😥
● Do people really know that the President and his Vices, Governors plus the cabinet ministers hardly use their salaries for feeding their families?
● Do people know that their welfare is well taken care of by the government?
● Do people know that their offices receives operational money for running their day to day activities?
● My leaders, what's the essence of spending millions of money on operations yet you cannot provide the services people desperately deserve?
● Why do you spend millions in operations when your civil servants work like a horse without being paid their salaries for months?
● Folks, do people know that your tax payers money is used for the welfare of these elites in the Goverment?
It's pathetic, inhuman for our leaders to sit back and watch when the situation in the market is deteriorating. This is a national crisis, and I don't expect our leaders to behave like everything is okay.
There is no reason for them to be putting on suits, ties and hosting lavish parties, travelling when the country's economic situation is in crisis.
I sometimes wonder if they [our leaders] really think about those who are going to bed hungry just because they cannot afford the skyrocketing prices of goods and services in the market. My LORD, what did the South Sudanese do to deserve this prolong suffering? Malu sei baba! 😭
Survival for the fittest is now activated...God please! Help us break this spell on South Sudanese. We all deserve to survive! No one should go to bed hungry just because he/she cannot afford the basic necessities that is essential to human existence.
for the sake of the poor, the widows, the orphans, and the widows. 🙏🙏🙏
