Here’s a story with a brutal lesson: when the baboons and monkeys heard the farmer who used to chase them out of the maize field had died, they celebrated. They thought they were free, victorious, and rid of their biggest problem. But the next year, there was no maize at all. That’s when they realized—too late—that the farmer they resented was the very reason they had food to eat in the first place.
This isn’t just about monkeys and farmers—it’s about life. People may criticize you, misunderstand you, or even despise you for the actions you take today. They might view your discipline, boundaries, or leadership as controlling or unnecessary. But let them live without your efforts for a while, and they’ll come to understand the value of what you were doing.
As a man, your leadership, sacrifices, and hard work often go unappreciated. You grind, build, and provide, but instead of gratitude, you’re met with complaints or criticism. People don’t understand the weight you carry or the results you produce—until you’re no longer there to do it.
