📢 THE CRISIS IN BUDI COUNTY (Eye Radio Reference Baseline)
Ground disclosures by Simon Nakang Martha (Director of Gender, Child, and Social Welfare, Budi County) published by Eye Radio reveal a severe educational breakdown following Term One:
⛏️ 40% Driven to Gold Mining: An estimated 40% of female dropouts in Budi have been pushed into dangerous artisanal gold pits for survival labor.
🥖 Petty Vending for Hunger: Girls are forced to sell cassava and make mandazi to feed families facing acute, drought-induced food shortages.
⚠️ Compound Vulnerabilities: Climate shocks, severe poverty, early pregnancies, and forced child marriages are stripping Budi's daughters of their right to learn.
🎯 DIRECT ACTION REQUIRED FROM RESPECTIVE OFFICES:
1️⃣ Budi County Commissioner & Ministry of Mining: Deploy joint task forces to inspect gold-mining corridors and enforce strict sanctions on operators exploiting school-aged children during academic hours.
2️⃣ State Ministry of General Education & Ministry of Finance: Clear teacher salary backlogs immediately and issue emergency hardship stipends to retain qualified educators in Budi.
3️⃣ Ministry of Gender & Humanitarian Partners: Roll out emergency school feeding programs across all Budi payams to eliminate hunger as the driver pushing girls into artisanal mining.
4️⃣ Payam Administrators & Traditional Chiefs: Enforce strict zero-exclusion re-entry policies for adolescent mothers and legally prosecute perpetrators of forced child marriage.
