I’ve been seeing all these discussions about Why is Bro Winner calling us Dor ? and honestly, I feel like people are taking this issue too far without even trying to understand both sides first.
As Equatorians too, let’s be honest with ourselves we also have names we call Dinkas all the time Jienge , MTN, Kwarkwar etc So if we are comfortable saying those things and laughing about them, why do we get extremely offended the moment something is said back to us ? Before criticizing others or calling certain names disrespectful, we should also ask ourselves if we would accept the names we give other people.
And the truth is “Dor “is not even an abuse, that’s simply how the Dinka community refer to people who are not Dinkas , So sometimes people should understand meanings before turning everything into anger and tribal tension online.
At first even me, when I didn’t know where the word came from I thought it was offensive too, but after understanding it, I realized people were reacting more emotionally than logically, not every nickname automatically means hatred.
At the end of the day, we are all South Sudanese, we cannot keep fighting and attacking each other over every small thing while preaching unity at the same time, Sometimes we really need to mature, stop overreacting and focus on what actually matters instead of constantly finding new reasons to divide ourselves, and honestly speaking i personally don’t see anything wrong with Bro Winner’s song .
