بمناسبة اعادة افتتاح المتحف الوطني بدمشق بعد سقوط نظام الاسد الطاغي اطلقت جمعية أصدقاء المتاحف والمواقع الأثرية مبادرة والتي تضمنت النقاط التالية :
١ - ضرورة اشراك المجتمع المحلي بحماية التراث السوري والاستثمار الثقافي فيه.
٢ - العمل على إعادة افتتاح المتاحف السورية مع ضرورة الاسراع في تسجيل القطع الاثرية وارشفتها ورقيا والكترونيا.
٣ - ضرورة توثيق التعديات التي تحصل ضمن المدن التاريخية المسجلة على لائحة التراث العالمي والمواقع الاثرية على امتداد الجغرافيا السورية.
٤- ضرورة تأمين التدريب العملي ( ترميم - توثيق - تنقيب ) لطلاب قسم الاثار في الجامعات السورية.
٥ - العمل على انشاء نقابة خاصة بخريجيين قسم الاثار.
٦ - ضرورة اصدار تعليمات واضحة بايقاف التعديات على المواقع الاثرية من تنقيبات غير شرعية.
٧ - متابعة الاجتماعات مع كافة الجهات المعنية والمختصة والراغبة بالانضمام الى مبادرتنا بشكل دوري.

On the occasion of the reopening of the National Museum in Damascus, following the fall of the oppressive Assad regime, the Association of Friends of Museums and Archaeological Sites has launched the initiative. This initiative includes the following key points:
1. Involving the local community in the protection of Syrian heritage and cultural investment.
2. Working towards the reopening of Syrian museums, with a focus on the swift registration and archiving of archaeological artifacts, both on paper and digitally.
3. Documenting violations occurring within historic cities listed as World Heritage sites and archaeological sites across Syria.
4. Providing practical training (restoration, documentation, excavation) for archaeology students in Syrian universities.
5. Establishing a dedicated union for archaeology graduates.
6. Issuing clear instructions to halt illegal excavations and other violations at archaeological sites.
7. Regularly conducting meetings with all concerned and interested parties willing to join our initiative.
