วันที่ 7 กันยายน 2569 มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล นำโดย ศาสตราจารย์ นายแพทย์ปิยะมิตร ศรีธรา อธิการบดีมหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล ร่วมลงนามบันทึกความเข้าใจ (Memorandum of Understanding: MOU) กับ Professor Stephen McArthur, Principal and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Strathclyde เพื่อยกระดับความร่วมมือเชิงยุทธศาสตร์ ระหว่าง มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล และ University of Strathclyde ในด้านการศึกษา การวิจัย นวัตกรรม และการสร้างผลกระทบต่อสังคมในระดับนานาชาติ ณ เมืองกลาสโกว์ สหราชอาณาจักร โดยมี ศาสตราจารย์ นายแพทย์ หม่อมหลวงชาครีย์ กิติยากร รองอธิการบดีฝ่ายวิจัย ศาสตราจารย์ ดร.ศันสนีย์ ไชยโรจน์ ที่ปรึกษาอธิการบดีด้านวิจัย และคุณอรวลัญช์ โลหิตหาญ รองผู้อำนวยการสถาบันบริหารจัดการเทคโนโลยีและนวัตกรรม (INT) ร่วมในพิธีลงนามบันทึกข้อตกลง
ศาสตราจารย์ นายแพทย์ปิยะมิตร ศรีธรา กล่าวว่า ความร่วมมือครั้งนี้สะท้อนวิสัยทัศน์ร่วมกันของทั้งสองมหาวิทยาลัยในการใช้ความเป็นเลิศทางวิชาการและนวัตกรรมเพื่อรับมือกับความท้าทายระดับโลก พร้อมสร้างโอกาสใหม่ให้แก่นักศึกษา นักวิจัย และบุคลากร ผ่านการเรียนรู้และการวิจัยในบริบทนานาชาติ
การลงนามในครั้งนี้ครอบคลุมความร่วมมือด้านการศึกษา การวิจัย และการแลกเปลี่ยนองค์ความรู้ (Knowledge Exchange) การพัฒนาหลักสูตรและโครงการวิชาการร่วม รวมถึงการแลกเปลี่ยนคณาจารย์ นักวิจัย และนักศึกษา การดำเนินงานวิจัยและกิจกรรมทางวิชาการ ตลอดจนการพัฒนาระบบนิเวศผู้ประกอบการนวัตกรรม (Entrepreneurship Ecosystem) การผลักดันการถ่ายทอดเทคโนโลยี และการนำผลงานวิจัยไปใช้ประโยชน์เชิงพาณิชย์ (Technology Transfer and Innovation Commercialisation)
ที่ผ่านมา ทั้งสองมหาวิทยาลัยมีการพัฒนาความร่วมมือมาอย่างต่อเนื่องผ่านโครงการสำคัญ อาทิ Chief Innovation Officer Exchange Programme (CIOX) ส่งเสริมการแลกเปลี่ยนองค์ความรู้ด้านการบริหารจัดการนวัตกรรมและการถ่ายทอดเทคโนโลยี และ Student Entrepreneurs for Enterprise Development (SEED) Programme ที่มุ่งพัฒนาศักยภาพผู้ประกอบการรุ่นใหม่ของนักศึกษาไทยในระดับนานาชาติ โดยดำเนินการผ่านสถาบันบริหารจัดการเทคโนโลยีและนวัตกรรม (INT) มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล รวมถึงความร่วมมือด้านหลักสูตรและการแลกเปลี่ยนนักศึกษาในสาขาวิศวกรรมชีวการแพทย์ ธุรกิจ และสังคมศาสตร์ ซึ่งเป็นรากฐานสำคัญในการต่อยอดความร่วมมือสู่ระดับที่กว้างขึ้น
University of Strathclyde เป็นมหาวิทยาลัยชั้นนำของสหราชอาณาจักรด้านเทคโนโลยีและนวัตกรรม มีความโดดเด่นระดับนานาชาติด้านวิศวกรรม ปัญญาประดิษฐ์ วิทยาการข้อมูล และการนำผลงานวิจัยไปสร้างผลกระทบต่อภาคอุตสาหกรรมและสังคม ซึ่งสอดคล้องกับพันธกิจของมหาวิทยาลัยมหิดลในการสร้างองค์ความรู้และนวัตกรรมเพื่อขับเคลื่อนการเปลี่ยนแปลงเชิงบวกให้แก่สังคม
การลงนามครั้งนี้จึงเป็นอีกก้าวสำคัญในการยกระดับความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างมหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล และ University of Strathclyde สู่ความร่วมมือเชิงยุทธศาสตร์ระยะยาว พร้อมต่อยอดสู่โครงการวิจัย นวัตกรรม การถ่ายทอดเทคโนโลยี และการสร้างผู้ประกอบการเทคโนโลยี เพื่อร่วมกันสร้างผลกระทบและขับเคลื่อนการพัฒนาที่ยั่งยืนในประเทศไทย สหราชอาณาจักร และระดับโลก

7 September 2026: Mahidol University, led by Professor Piyamitr Sritara, MD, FRCP, President of Mahidol University, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Professor Stephen McArthur, Principal and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Strathclyde. The agreement aims to strengthen strategic collaboration between Mahidol University and the University of Strathclyde in education, research, innovation, and creating positive social impact at the international level. The signing ceremony was held in Glasgow, United Kingdom.
Also attending the ceremony were Professor Chagriya Kitiyakara, MBBS (Lond), FRCP, Vice President for Research; Professor Sansanee Chaiyaroj, Advisor to the President for Research; and Ms. Onwalun Lohitharn, Deputy Director of the Institute for Technology and Innovation Management (iNT).
Professor Piyamitr Sritara, MD, FRCP, President of Mahidol University, said the partnership reflects the shared commitment of both universities to harness academic excellence and innovation to address global challenges, while creating new opportunities for students, researchers, and staff through international education and research.
The MOU provides a framework for collaboration in education, research, and knowledge exchange, including faculty, researcher and student mobility, joint academic programmes, collaborative research and academic activities, and the development of an entrepreneurship ecosystem. It also aims to advance technology transfer and the commercialisation of research and innovation.
The partnership builds on a strong foundation of collaboration between the two institutions. Through the Chief Innovation Officer Exchange Programme (CIOX), the universities have facilitated knowledge exchange in innovation management and technology transfer. The Student Entrepreneurs for Enterprise Development (SEED) Programme has also supported the development of entrepreneurial skills among Thai students through international exposure and learning opportunities. Both initiatives have been carried out through the Institute for Technology and Innovation Management (INT).
The two universities have also established collaboration in academic programmes and student exchange in biomedical engineering, business, and social sciences, providing a strong foundation for further expanding their partnership.
The University of Strathclyde is a leading UK university with international strengths in technology and innovation, particularly in engineering, artificial intelligence, data science, and translating research into impact for industry and society. These strengths align closely with Mahidol University’s commitment to advancing knowledge and innovation for positive societal change.
The signing of the MOU marks an important milestone in the development of a long-term strategic partnership between Mahidol University and the University of Strathclyde. Moving forward, the collaboration will create opportunities for joint research and innovation, technology transfer, and technology entrepreneurship, contributing to sustainable development and meaningful impact in Thailand, the United Kingdom, and globally.
