Designing an AUV is never meant to be simple. Have you ever wondered where we even start?
Speaking of SeaPup mechanical team, our members believe that everything starts from our effective design principles composed of 5 crucial elements:
1. Function: To begin with the brainstorming process from users and team members, allows the capabilities of our AUV to be precisely defined with covering expected aims and tasks; including extending the idea to bio-inspiration design.
2. Manufacturing: This stage serves as similar to a reality checkpoint in which seeks for practical balance between cost, time and design.
3. Maintenance: It must be easily operated, and needs to be designed so that if an individual component failed, it merely poses a detrimental effect on other components and is within a reasonable maintenance budget.
4. Resilience: The structures must be alterable to serve new missions and attach to new sensors in the future, the pre-existing structures would allow them to be modified accordingly at ease.
5. Post-Modify: Even though our AUV was designed to flexibly cover many situations, we are also concerned about any unexpected failure. This element emphasizes a thorough understanding of this AUV design and first-hand experience in our inter-disciplined members’ abilities to think on their feet and solve unforeseen issues presented to them right on the spot.
