On August 18th, the delegation from the University of Tokyo visited the Department of Computer Engineering, KMUTT, where Asst. Prof. Dr. Santitham Prom-on presented the department’s facilities, research initiatives, and educational programs. The tour provided valuable opportunities for faculty members to exchange ideas and identify areas of mutual interest.

✨ The University of Tokyo Visits KMUTT to Strengthen Academic Collaboration and Promote Graduate Study Opportunities 🇯🇵🇹🇭
On 18 August 2026, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) welcomed a delegation from The University of Tokyo (UTokyo), Japan, to the Bangmod Campus for a collaborative visit aimed at strengthening academic ties and promoting graduate study opportunities for KMUTT students.
The UTokyo delegation included Associate Professor Di Su from the Graduate School of Engineering, Associate Professor Vorapong Suppakitpaisarn from the Graduate School of Information Science and Technology, and Ms. Mao Sugasawa from the International Affairs Group. They were received by KMUTT representatives led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Asawin Meechai, Associate Dean for International Affairs of the Faculty of Engineering, together with Asst. Prof. Dr. Surapong Rattanakul, KMUTT-Japan Partnership Coordinator, and Ms. Parinchat Traipanyasart from the International Affairs Office.
During a meeting, representatives from both institutions introduced their universities and exchanged information on academic strengths, international activities, and research priorities. Discussions focused on potential areas of cooperation in engineering, information science, and related fields, with both sides expressing interest in expanding future academic and research collaboration.
The delegation also toured the Faculty of Engineering, visiting the Department of Civil Engineering and the Department of Computer Engineering. At the Department of Civil Engineering, the visitors were welcomed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chainarong Athisakul, who introduced the department’s academic and research activities. The delegation then visited the Department of Computer Engineering, where Asst. Prof. Dr. Santitham Prom-on presented the department’s facilities, research initiatives, and educational programs. The tour provided valuable opportunities for faculty members to exchange ideas and identify areas of mutual interest.
In the afternoon, UTokyo hosted an information session entitled“Pathway to Graduate School of Engineering and Graduate School of Information Science and Technology at The University of Tokyo” at the KMUTT Library Learning Space.
The visit highlighted the shared commitment of KMUTT and The University of Tokyo to fostering international partnerships, advancing research cooperation, and creating new opportunities for student mobility and academic exchange.
