Data & Digital Product Passport 🔥
(Feeds Security)
(Offtake Agreement)
"LET’S MAKE IT ROCHAK NOT KACHRO!"

🎉 5 Key Takeaways from WCEF 2026 in Gandhinagar, India! 🇮🇳✨
Just wrapped up an eye-opening experience at the World Circular Economy Forum 2026! Here’s a casual recap of my top 5 takeaways from the trip 👇
1️⃣ First Impression at Immigration 😂
My journey started with a surprise right at border control! When I told the immigration officer I was attending a forum on the "Circular Economy," he hit me with an unexpected follow-up: "And how exactly does the circular economy relate to pollution!?" Talk about an unforgettable Amazing India moment right off the bat![cite: 1]
2️⃣ Hats Off to the Host Nation 👏
India organized a seamless event that beautifully blended local culture with circular concepts[cite: 1]. From the insightful Main Event sessions (catch the replays on YouTube: WCEF2026) to the outstanding exhibitions where practitioners shared honest, hands-on experiences[cite: 1]. The Accelerator Sessions were also thoughtfully spread across various venues, making engagement super accessible for everyone[cite: 1].
3️⃣ The Hottest Topic: Data Transparency & Digital Product Passports 🔥
Transparency and traceability took center stage throughout the event. The star tool of the discussion was the Digital Product Passport (DPP)—a game-changer that every stakeholder across the supply chain needs to prioritize and start adapting to today[cite: 1]!
4️⃣ The Classic Startup Dilemma: How to Scale Sustainably? 💸
A recurring challenge for innovators and startups is hitting the funding wall when trying to scale[cite: 1]. Financial representatives emphasized that loan repayment capability is key[cite: 1]. To secure financing, circular projects must prove two things Feeds Security (Guaranteed raw material supply)[cite: 1]
Offtake Agreements (Clear advance purchase contracts)[cite: 1]
Otherwise, pitching to equity investors is the way to go[cite: 1].
5️⃣ Embracing the Uniqueness of Local Traffic 🐄🛵
India is a vibrant mix of diversity, offering new lessons every day—even on the road! You can witness cows taking a stroll on the inner right lane of urban highways, drivers skipping roundabouts entirely, and lane markings serving purely as street decor[cite: 1]. Vehicles going against traffic is normal, and while skipping turn signals might save manufacturing costs, taking away the horn would completely paralyze traffic! 😆[cite: 1]
💚 Special Thanks to Our Generous Supporters
A huge thank you to GIZ-TH ([suspicious link removed]), Mr. Alvaro Zurita, Mr. Pakin Somkieatprayool, and Ms. Charuin Pholhinkong for the kind invitation, travel and accommodation support, and seamless logistics throughout the week[cite: 1]. Thanks as well to my lovely travel companions for the mini-adventures in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar, and to HSM for supporting this eye-opening experience[cite: 1]!
✨ A Words of Wisdom to End On
One speaker left us with a catchy wordplay in Gujarati: ROCHAK (meaning interesting) and KACHRO (meaning waste/garbage)[cite: 1].
"LET’S MAKE IT ROCHAK NOT KACHRO!" ♻️💡[cite: 1]
