What is INDA?
------------------
INDA – the International Program in Design and Architecture – was founded in 2006. It is a four year, Bachelor of Science in Architectural Design program, conducted in English language, within Chulalongkorn University’s Faculty of Architecture. Chulalongkorn University, founded in 1917, is the oldest and one of the most prestigious Universities in Thailand. The Fac

ulty of Architecture, founded in 1930, has produced graduates in architecture and related fields for over 80 years. Despite being a young program, INDA has quickly developed a positive reputation for producing motivated, critical, and creative graduates. INDA graduates are prepared to contribute to architectural practice throughout the Asian region. Where is INDA?
--------------------
INDA is located in Chulalongkorn University’s Faculty of Architecture Building in the heart of Bangkok. Being based in Bangkok is ideal for students and faculty alike – enabling direct engagement and study of a rapidly evolving city fabric, rich culture, and fascinating histories. In addition to studies within Bangkok, INDA students also engage in workshops, study tours, and design build projects all over the world. Take a look at our works and website - http://cuinda.com - for a glimpse at the breadth of our engagement. Who is INDA?
-----------------
Students – INDA is composed of about 320 students with approximately 80 students in each year. Faculty – INDA has more than 30 faculty members from around the world. Check out the Faculty Directory on http://cuinda.com for more information. Dr. Preechaya Sittipunt and is currently directed by Asst. Dr. Surapong Lertsithichai.

Design Build 2025-2026

Project: Five Variations of A Chair

What does it mean to build with wood that has already lived for more than a century?

In this Design Build course, students explored this question through the making of limited-edition chairs inspired by Enzo Mari’s Sedia 1. Working exclusively with reclaimed teak from the historic residence Plai Noen Palace, students learned to treat each plank as an artifact, preserving its grain, nail holes, layered paint — the traces of time.

💥 O P E N C A L L 💥

DEX – Design Experimentation Workshop is INDA’s annual workshop programme for third-year students. Over nine days, students work closely with exceptional practitioners from around the world, exploring new ways of thinking, making, communicating, and experimenting. Every workshop usually begins with a question, and the answers are rarely what anyone expected.

This year’s DEX will take place in Bangkok from 10–18 December under the theme imag[in]e.

Before architecture becomes matter, it exists as an image. Sometimes that image is a drawing, a model or a sentence. Increasingly, it is a prompt. Every technological shift has transformed not only the way images are made, but also the way we see, think and imagine the world. We have never produced so many images, nor questioned them so little.

DEX imag[in]e invites workshop tutors to explore image-making as a way of thinking, framing and imagining the world. Workshops may respond through architecture, film, photography, writing, AI, archives, craft, performance, fabrication, or practices yet to be defined. Together, they will culminate in a collective exhibition where different modes of image-making meet.

Design Construction for Communities 2025-2026

Project: Playground Roof

INDA students from the Faculty of Architecture, Chulalongkorn University, are designing, and soon building, a new covered playground for Surao Lat Nam Khao School in Chachoengsao, Thailand.
More than a roof, the project creates a safer and more comfortable space for children while using architecture as a tool for community engagement, cultural exchange, and sustainable design.

We are proud to develop this initiative in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute of Bangkok (), strengthening the dialogue between Italy and Thailand through the shared language of architecture.

The project has also been made possible thanks to the collaboration and consultancy of Parabase (.eu)
Construction starts soon. Stay tuned.

Design Construction for Communities 2025-2026

Project: QUICKSILVER: A pneumatic learning center

QUICKSILVER is a 100% Thai-made pneumatic structure designed to test the feasibility of thermally insulated membranes for outdoor use in tropical climates. During the review, students presented a variety of design options, material samples, and hands-on experiments—all hosted inside a custom-made pneumatic space.

Fabrication of the first full-scale prototype is scheduled to begin later this year. Stay tuned!

Fresh of the press: the INDA Yearbook 2024-2025
🎺 🖨️ ✨ 📕 📖

The publication is organized in three main chapters, one for each semester of the academic year. Together, they offer a portrait of a year at the school through student projects from all design studios and the courses that accompany them.
Each studio chapter opens with the design brief formulated as a question, followed by responses—drawings, images, models, and text.

This yearbook would not have been possible without the contributions of our students, instructors, guests, and administrative staff. Thank you all!

The editor of the yearbook is Vlado Danailov (), faculty member of INDA.
The art direction and graphic design of the yearbook were developed by Bianca Previato Schiesari from Distortion Studio (.eu).
The copy editor of this volume is Thomas Lozada (), Assistant Director of INDA.
The advisor for this volume is M.L. Chittawadi Chitrabongs (), Program Director of INDA.
The publication is printed by Chulalongkorn University Press.

We are pleased to announce that Davide Contran , faculty member of INDA, Faculty of Architecture, Chulalongkorn University, has contributed an article to 6850, the architecture journal published by the Academy of Architecture at Università della Svizzera italiana in Mendrisio, Switzerland . His contribution is featured in the latest issue titled On Contemporary.

The article presents a critical dialogue between two generations of Thai architects, exploring the relationship between construction, cultural identity, and contemporaneity. Through a double interview with architects Boonserm Premthada and Takahiro Kume & Watanya Chanvitan, founders of Bangkok Tokyo Architecture .

This exchange highlights the plurality of architectural approaches emerging within the Thai context, revealing how diverse interpretations of locality, material culture, and contemporaneity are shaping an evolving architectural discourse across Thailand.

INDA PARADE 2026_COMMON STRUCTURE

The exhibition installation for INDA Parade 2026 was conceived as a single central space, an agora for the entire INDA community within the Faculty of Architecture, Chulalongkorn University. ()

The setup brought together more than 1,200 images drawn from the full range of student work produced throughout the academic year. Arranged as a collective landscape of projects, research, and creative processes, the exhibition transformed the space into a shared archive of ideas and experimentation.

This central environment became the heart of the Parade, a common ground, where lectures, discussions, and public events took place, allowing students, faculty, and international guests to engage directly within the same spatial and visual field of work.
