SWU Showcases the Elegance of Thai Costume through “The Journey of Thai Costume to the World” at Thai Festival in Moscow 2026
The Faculty of Fine Arts, Srinakharinwirot University, extends its sincere gratitude to the Royal Thai Embassy in Moscow, Russian Federation, for the honour and opportunity to present the fashion show “The Journey of Thai Costume to the World” as part of Thai Festival in Moscow 2026.
Organised by the Faculty of Fine Arts, Srinakharinwirot University, the fashion show featured a total of 20 costumes, tracing the development of Thai dress through three significant historical periods:
Part I: “Siamese Elegance: From Ayutthaya to the Early Rattanakosin Period”
This section presented the refined elegance of Siamese costume from the Ayutthaya period to the early Rattanakosin era. The costumes reflected Thai wisdom in textile production, traditional draping techniques, and the exquisite craftsmanship that shaped the distinctive identity of Siamese dress.
Part II: “Thai Colonial Style: Siam Meets Europe”
This section portrayed the transformation of Thai dress during the period when Siam increasingly engaged with Western nations. European styles were creatively combined with Thai textiles and traditional forms of dress, reflecting the important roles of diplomacy, international relations, and cultural exchange in the modernisation of Siam.
Part III: “Thai Identity on the World Stage”
The final section highlighted the development of Thai costume into a modern national image through the presentation of the Royal Thai Dresses and contemporary interpretations of Thai attire. These designs preserved the elegance, cultural values, and distinctive identity of Thailand while presenting Thai costume confidently and gracefully on the international stage.
The 20 costumes were designed by Associate Professor Dr. Kittikorn Nopudomphan and Associate Professor Dr. Piyawadee Makpa. The collection illustrated the journey of Thai costume as it evolved in response to changing social contexts, international trade, diplomacy, and cultural exchange, while continuing to preserve the beauty and distinctive identity of Thai culture.
The Faculty of Fine Arts, Srinakharinwirot University, would like to express its profound appreciation to the Ambassador of Thailand to the Russian Federation, the executives and staff of the Royal Thai Embassy in Moscow, as well as the faculty members, students, staff, performers, models, and all those involved in supporting the fashion show and contributing to its successful and impressive presentation.
The success of this fashion show represents another significant step in bringing Thai art, culture, and identity to the world stage. It also contributes to strengthening friendship and mutual cultural understanding between Thailand and the Russian Federation through the power of art, design, and creativity.

การแสดงครั้งนี้จัดขึ้นโดยคณะศิลปกรรมศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยศรีนครินทรวิโรฒ นำเสนอเครื่องแต่งกายจำนวนทั้งสิ้น 20 ชุด เพื่อถ่ายทอดพัฒนาการของเครื่องแต่งกายไทยผ่าน 3 ช่วงสำคัญ ได้แก่
ช่วงที่ 1 “Siamese Elegance: From Ayutthaya to the Early Rattanakosin Period” นำเสนอความสง่างามของเครื่องแต่งกายสยามตั้งแต่สมัยกรุงศรีอยุธยาจนถึงรัตนโกสินทร์ตอนต้น สะท้อนภูมิปัญญาด้านสิ่งทอ การนุ่งห่ม และความประณีตของงานช่างไทย
ช่วงที่ 2 “Thai Colonial Style: Siam Meets Europe” ถ่ายทอดการเปลี่ยนแปลงของการแต่งกายในสมัยที่สยามเปิดรับอิทธิพลตะวันตก โดยผสมผสานรูปแบบเครื่องแต่งกายแบบยุโรปเข้ากับผ้าไทยและวิถีการแต่งกายดั้งเดิม สะท้อนบทบาทของการทูตและการแลกเปลี่ยนทางวัฒนธรรมระหว่างสยามกับนานาชาติ
ช่วงที่ 3 “Thai Identity on the World Stage” นำเสนอการพัฒนาเครื่องแต่งกายไทยสู่ภาพลักษณ์สมัยใหม่ ผ่านชุดไทยพระราชนิยมและการสร้างสรรค์เครื่องแต่งกายร่วมสมัย ซึ่งยังคงรักษาเอกลักษณ์ ความงดงาม และคุณค่าทางวัฒนธรรมของไทย พร้อมก้าวสู่เวทีนานาชาติอย่างสง่างาม
ผลงานเครื่องแต่งกายทั้ง 20 ชุด ออกแบบโดย รองศาสตราจารย์ ดร.กิตติกรณ์ นพอุดมพันธุ์ และ รองศาสตราจารย์ ดร.ปิยวดี มากพา โดยมุ่งนำเสนอเรื่องราวการเดินทางของเครื่องแต่งกายไทยที่พัฒนาไปตามบริบทของสังคม การค้า การทูต และการแลกเปลี่ยนทางวัฒนธรรม ขณะเดียวกันยังคงรักษาความงดงามและอัตลักษณ์ความเป็นไทยไว้อย่างโดดเด่น

ความสำเร็จของแฟชั่นโชว์ครั้งนี้นับเป็นอีกก้าวสำคัญของการนำศิลปวัฒนธรรมและอัตลักษณ์ไทยออกสู่เวทีโลก ตลอดจนเสริมสร้างความสัมพันธ์อันดีและความเข้าใจทางวัฒนธรรมระหว่างประเทศไทยกับสหพันธรัฐรัสเซีย ผ่านพลังแห่งศิลปะ การออกแบบ และความคิดสร้างสรรค์
