Established on December 20, 2004, the Division of Music Education was formerly a section in the Department of Foundations of Education. In 1961, music was an undergraduate minor program in music education, and in 1973 was developed to major and minor programs in music education offering Thai and Western music fields of study. Later in 1977, it was changed to specialized teaching field of study offering only major in music education both Thai and Western music. This is the first institute in Thailand offers the bachelor's degree in Music Education -- 4 - year program. In 1993, the Department of Music Education had been established as the twelfth department of the Faculty of Education, and in 2004, according to the faculty reformation, the Department of Music Education was changed to the Division of Music Education in the Department of Art, Music and Dance Education. In 2008, the division offered Master of Education Program in Music Education to serve the demand of high quality music educators. Up until now, the Division of Music Education has been functioning as the nation's leader in producing graduates majoring in music education with high capability as both teachers and musicians, and music educators on the account of the strength of its curricula and instruction, and regular music activities all year round.
