– My Internship at VNU Asia Pacific ✨
🙌 Hi! I’m “Boom”Naphatra Hemwongvitaya, a fourth-year Business Service Innovation (BSI) student at the College of Innovation, Thammasat University.
This past summer, I had the incredible opportunity to intern as a Conference Coordinator Intern in the Professional Conference Organizer (PCO) department at VNU Asia Pacific. During my internship, I gained hands-on experience in conference and event management, developed my coordination and communication skills, and learned how to work with different stakeholders to deliver successful international events.
🧡 Key Responsibilities
Conference & Event Coordination – Supported the planning and coordination of international conferences, seminars, and training programs throughout different stages of event management, from preparation and promotion to onsite operations and post-event tasks.
Meeting & Documentation Support – Prepared meeting minutes, organized important event information, and created documents such as participant manuals, certificates, and presentation materials to ensure that all event details were clearly communicated and well organized.
Participant & Speaker Coordination – Assisted with managing participant information, registration-related tasks, speaker coordination, and communication with different stakeholders to support smooth event operations.
Event & Campaign Support – Had the opportunity to support various international projects, including FAVA Online Training on Gender Equality, Diversity, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI), Travel & Tech Asia, Pet Fair Southeast Asia, ILDEX Philippines, and ILDEX Indonesia.
🧡 Applying Classroom Knowledge
This internship allowed me to apply knowledge from my studies in Business Service Innovation to real-world event and service management. I developed practical skills in communication, coordination, problem-solving, teamwork, and attention to detail while working in a professional environment.
One of the most valuable experiences was supporting both online and onsite events. I learned that successful events require careful planning, effective communication, and the ability to respond quickly when unexpected situations arise.
Drawing from my previous coursework in event management, I was also able to apply what I had learned about event planning, participant engagement, and event operations. From preparing materials and coordinating speakers to supporting participants onsite, every task helped me better understand what it takes to create a smooth and professional event experience.
🧡 Advice for Juniors Interested in Internships
An internship is more than just gaining work experience—it is an opportunity to discover how what we learn in the classroom can be applied in the real world. Working at VNU Asia Pacific gave me the chance to work with different teams, support international events, and learn from real situations that cannot always be experienced in a classroom.
My advice to juniors is to be open to learning, ask questions, and do not be afraid to take on new responsibilities. Even small tasks can teach you something valuable when you pay attention and take responsibility for your work. Most importantly, make the most of your internship experience, build good relationships with your colleagues, and enjoy the journey!
