Over 120 days, more than 40 academic and support staff from Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University มหาวิทยาลัยราชภัฏสวนสุนันทา took on a shared mission: to become champions of digital transformation across their institution.

Designed and delivered by CSII, the Digital Transformation Champions Program combined lectures, workshops, mentoring, and project development in areas including design thinking, enterprise architecture, cybersecurity, AI ethics, and innovation. Participants concluded the program by developing practical transformation proposals for their own departments.

By equipping change agents across the university, CSII and SSRU are helping turn digital ambition into institution-wide action.

From pixels to context: advancing AI for disaster recognition

Small landslides can be difficult for conventional object-detection systems to identify, particularly when they occupy only a minor part of a complex image.

Narongthat Thanyawet, Ph.D. (Aj. Ming), our CSII Faculty Member, presented a new approach to addressing this challenge at the NVAITC Symposium 2026, organized by Chula AI, Chulalongkorn University, and NVIDIA.

Their Detective Network (DeNet) combines image captioning with an attention-shifting mechanism that guides the model toward disaster-relevant areas rather than dominant foreground objects. The research also explores using Qwen2.5-VL to generate training labels automatically, helping reduce the time and effort required for manual annotation.

With human-supervised DeNet achieving approximately 91.6% accuracy for side-view landslide detection and 87.5% for shipborne imagery, the project demonstrates the potential of context-aware AI to strengthen disaster monitoring - and opens new possibilities for applications involving floods and wildfires.

How can AI make complex medical reports clearer and more inclusive for patients?
At the NVAITC Symposium 2026 (organized by Chula AI, Chulalongkorn University, and NVIDIA), our CSII Faculty Member, Dr. Marko, and his collaborators presented an AI-powered prototype designed to transform abbreviation- and jargon-heavy medical reports into accessible summaries tailored to different audiences.

Beyond language translation, the project also explores how medical information can be adapted to cultural and religious contexts - including Thai patients, Chinese patients familiar with Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Muslim patients in Thailand - while maintaining medical accuracy and safety.

The project highlights an important direction for responsible healthcare AI: communication that is not only accurate, but also understandable, culturally sensitive, and supported by human verification.

🤔 What happens when real-world challenges enter the classroom?..

Through the Innovation in Action: Industry & Community Engagement course, BAScii students collaborated with VitalLife Scientific Wellness Center and MBK Center to develop practical solutions addressing health literacy, longevity, sustainable retail, and net-zero ambitions.

From omnichannel healthcare prototypes to waste-to-value systems, the project challenged students to move beyond textbook answers and turn multidisciplinary thinking into ideas with real-world potential.
