Pattanan Pluckcha-oom (น.ส.พัทธนันท์ พฤกษ์ชะอุ่ม), an AIIP 3rd year student, is the recipient of the Academic Excellence Award “King Bhumibol’s Scholarship” (ทุนพระราชทานรางวัลเรียนดี “ทุนภูมิพล”) for the Kasetsart University Academic Year 2025.

Many thanks to Lung Anek, Thai dessert factory located in Phetchaburi province, for welcoming us and Kyushu University students on Feb 21, 2026.🙇‍♀️

We learned so much about how innovation was applied to produce traditional Phetchaburi Thai dessert at an industrial scale and had fantastic time during the workshop making the desserts.

Our field trip abroad this year has come to the end. We have arrived in Bangkok safely. It was a memorable trip packed with knowledge, joy, and friendship.

Many thanks to Kyushu University, especially the Faculty of Agriculture for organising such a wonderful one week activities for us.

AIIP field trip abroad 2025
Day 6: 18 Dec 2025

We started the day by going to the subway really early in the morning to take the bus at Kyudai-Gakkentoshi station to the Itoshima (Itomonogatari) Milk Plant. At the plant, we enjoyed the tour of 2 major production lines of fresh milk (non-homogenized) and also yogurt, from the start (ingredients) all the way to the finish (storage). The staffs explained everything really well and also gave us free delicious yogurts!
After that, we went to the Futamigaura Beach near Kyushu University Campus, it was quite cloudy and cold but the view and scenery was amazing. The main white gate is very iconic to this beach , making it a very popular destination for couples to visit (good luck).
Then, we went back on the bus and took it to the campus (Kyushu University), where we then get to buy our own lunch from the amazing cafeteria the campus offered. The foods there were extraordinary.
Finally, we prepared for the final group presentation about the mission of linking 5 SDGs to Fukuoka city and nearby and how they support each other and presented our work to conclude our trip!

AIIP field trip abroad 2025
Day 5: 17 Dec 2025

We visited Mamizu Pia, a seawater desalination plant. We learned how reverse osmosis is used to produce fresh water by forcing seawater through semi-permeable membranes that remove salt and impurities. Before this, the water is pre-treated to remove sediments and microorganisms. The visit showed how desalination helps secure water supplies during shortages, even though it requires high energy use.

We then visited the Fukuoka Eastern Water Treatment Center, where wastewater is treated before being released into the sea. The process includes removing large debris and solids, followed by biological treatment where microorganisms break down pollutants. The water is then disinfected to meet environmental standards. This ensures wastewater disposal is safe and helps protect marine life and public health.

Finally during the evening with special collaboration between Kasetsart University students and Kyushu University students, we did a cross culture cooking competition, incorporating both techniques and tastes of each culture. This was a great success and we were even treated to some amazing sushi and pizzaaaaas.
