Sussex Seminar on Parasites for Students!

(Only for Mahidol's student attendance)

The Faculty of Science, Mahidol University, through its B.Sc. Program in Biomedical Science, in collaboration with the School of Life Sciences, Sussex University, UK, is jointly hosting the “Sussex Seminar on Parasite” on 18 March 2025 (9:00- 11:00 a.m. UK Time). This is an exciting online seminar on parasites designed for international students pursuing bioscience-related degrees with a focus on microbiology. This seminar will provide a global perspective on parasite-related diseases across different regions. More importantly, this event offers a unique opportunity for students worldwide to connect, engage, and share insights, fostering an international exchange of ideas and experiences. The seminar will be conducted entirely online with interactive breakout rooms.

📢 Call for Letter of Intent (LOI) WUN - Research Development Fund 2024

International Relations Division, Mahidol University, as coordinator under the Worldwide Universities Network (WUN), invites faculty members and researchers to submit research project proposals via the Letter of Intent (LOI) form for the "WUN Research Development Fund 2024" to receive research funding for the year 2024.

Mahidol University has joined the Worldwide Universities Network (WUN), a leading global higher education network connecting 23 research-intensive universities in Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe, and Oceania. https://wun.ac.uk/wun/members

💡 Funding information
The Worldwide Universities Network (WUN) offers grants of up to £10,000 for selected projects. These grants are aimed at supporting research projects within the context of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) across four key topics:
1. Social justice and human rights; inequality
2. Sustainable world: cities and urbanization; energy transitions; water and food security
3. Mental health; child and maternal health; ageing
4. Responsible and ethical applications of Artificial Intelligence

✅ Project teams
A project must engage at least 3 WUN member universities in at least 2 regions. Projects may include non-WUN universities and external partners but must have an active core of WUN member universities. Projects led by early career researchers are especially encouraged.

✴️ Application Process
📌First Stage:
Scholarship applicants must submit their LOI form and a letter of recommendation signed by the dean, director, or an authorized representative to the International Relations Division of Mahidol University. An internal review committee, led by the Vice President for International Relations and Corporate Communications and the Vice President for Research, will select two research projects to be sent to WUN on behalf of Mahidol University.

📌 Final Stage:
The persons responsible for the two selected projects must submit the complete research project through the online system as part of the WUN application process.

Grants for International Research Collaborations

We invite applications from UK institutions for research proposals, offering grants of up to £80,000 (£100,000 full economic costs), to collaborate with international partners through the Department of Science, Innovation, and Technology's International Science Partnerships Fund (ISPF).

Countries initially joining this call include Egypt, Indonesia, Kenya, Malaysia, Thailand and Turkey.

The ISPF Research Collaborations grants provide small-scale seed funding for collaborations between the UK and the participating ISPF countries/territories in each call to:

• initiate new research and innovation collaborations between academic groups, departments, and institutions in partner countries and the UK
• develop existing collaborations at group, departmental, and institutional level
• encourage these collaborations to work with non-academic organisations and individuals to support the exchange of research and innovation expertise and the translation of research knowledge into tangible benefits
• establish local hubs for UK- partner country/territory activity in a particular area, enabling engagement from the wider research and innovation community.
