อาจารย์ประจำคณะเทคโนโลยีและสิ่งแวดล้อม ร่วมวิจัยด้านไวรัสวิทยาทางทะเล ณ Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution ประเทศสหรัฐอเมริกา 🇺🇸
คณะเทคโนโลยีและสิ่งแวดล้อม มหาวิทยาลัยสงขลานครินทร์ วิทยาเขตภูเก็ต ขอแสดงความยินดีและร่วมภาคภูมิใจกับ ดร.สรณ์สิริ พงศ์ภัทรวัต อาจารย์ประจำคณะฯ และเป็นนักวิจัยจากศูนย์วิจัยสมุทรศาสตร์ชายฝั่งและการเปลี่ยนแปลงสภาพภูมิอากาศ ในโอกาสได้รับทุนสนับสนุนจาก The Mary Sears Visitor Program, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) เพื่อปฏิบัติงานวิจัยระยะสั้นด้าน ไวรัสวิทยาทางทะเล (Marine Virology) ณ Viral Ecology and Evolution Laboratory, Biology Department ระหว่างวันที่ 1–31 กรกฎาคม 2569
🔬 การปฏิบัติงานวิจัยครั้งนี้ดำเนินการภายใต้ความร่วมมือกับนักวิจัยจาก WHOI ได้แก่ Dr. James Wainaina, Dr. Clarissa Karthauser และ Dr. Stefan Sievert พร้อมทั้งมีโอกาสเข้าร่วมการสำรวจทางสมุทรศาสตร์ในมหาสมุทรแอตแลนติกตอนเหนือ นอกชายฝั่งสหรัฐอเมริกา บนเรือวิจัย R/V Seawolf เพื่อศึกษาความหลากหลายของแบคทีเรียและไวรัสที่เกี่ยวข้องกับอนุภาคสารอินทรีย์ในทะเล ร่วมกับคณะนักวิจัยจากสหรัฐอเมริกาและสหภาพยุโรป 🌊🚢
นอกจากนี้ ดร.สรณ์สิริ ยังได้รับเชิญเป็นวิทยากรบรรยายพิเศษในหัวข้อ
“Thailand’s Invisible Ocean: Past, Present, and Missing Pieces in Marine Microbiology Research and Education”
เมื่อวันที่ 30 กรกฎาคม 2569 ณ Biology Department, WHOI เพื่อแลกเปลี่ยนองค์ความรู้และมุมมองเกี่ยวกับการวิจัยและการศึกษาด้านจุลชีววิทยาทางทะเลของประเทศไทย
🌏 การปฏิบัติงานวิจัยในครั้งนี้นับเป็นอีกหนึ่งก้าวสำคัญในการเปิดโอกาสให้นักวิจัยของคณะได้แลกเปลี่ยนองค์ความรู้และประสบการณ์กับนักวิจัยระดับนานาชาติ ตลอดจนเสริมสร้างเครือข่ายความร่วมมือด้านวิทยาศาสตร์ทางทะเลและการวิจัยในระดับสากล

Faculty Member Conducts Marine Virology Research at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, USA 🇺🇸
The Faculty of Technology and Environment, Prince of Songkla University, Phuket Campus, is proud to congratulate Dr. Sornsiri Phongphattarawat, a faculty member of the Faculty and researcher at the Center for Coastal Oceanography and Climate Change, on receiving support from The Mary Sears Visitor Program, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) to undertake a short-term research visit in Marine Virology at the Viral Ecology and Evolution Laboratory, Biology Department, from 1–31 July 2026.
🔬 The research visit was conducted in collaboration with WHOI researchers, Dr. James Wainaina, Dr. Clarissa Karthauser, and Dr. Stefan Sievert. During the visit, Dr. Sornsiri also participated in an oceanographic research expedition in the North Atlantic Ocean off the coast of the United States aboard the research vessel R/V Seawolf. The expedition focused on investigating the diversity of bacteria and viruses associated with marine organic particles, in collaboration with researchers from the United States and the European Union. 🌊🚢
In addition, Dr. Sornsiri was invited to deliver a special seminar entitled “Thailand’s Invisible Ocean: Past, Present, and Missing Pieces in Marine Microbiology Research and Education” on 30 July 2026 at the Biology Department, WHOI. The seminar provided an opportunity to share knowledge and perspectives on marine microbiology research and education in Thailand.
🌏 This research visit marks an important opportunity for our faculty member to exchange knowledge and research experiences with international researchers, while further strengthening academic and research networks in marine science at the international level.
