🌍 Our students recently represented us at the Climate Reality Project, held at the Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre from September 8–9, 2026 to build a greener, more sustainable future for Southeast Asia! 🌍

👏 Francis Andrei Pajarillaga de Castro (FCCS Nexus Lab Project)
👏 Krizza Dale Ajero (FCCS Nexus Lab Project)
👏 Hodaifa A. Hilmie (Research student under Prof. Shobhakar Dhakal)

As its goal to empower Action & Innovation, led by former U.S. Vice President Al Gore, this intensive two-day summit focused on addressing the climate and energy challenges facing Southeast Asia which is one of the world's most climate-vulnerable regions. Through interactive sessions and expert-led discussions, our students gained actionable skills and insights in:

• 🌱 Clean Energy Solutions: Advancing low-cost, reliable electricity and real energy security across the region.
• 💼 Climate Finance & Policy: Learning strategies to unlock sustainable investments and drive ambitious regional solutions.
• 🛠️ Community Mobilization: Gaining practical tools to inspire, lead, and catalyze green innovation in local communities.

Our students had the privilege of engaging with leading voices in planetary health, policy, and sustainability, including: Al Gore (Founder & Chairman, The Climate Reality Project), Prof. Lian Pin Koh (Vice President of Sustainability & Resilience, Dean of Science, NUS), Phyllis Cuttino (President & CEO, The Climate Reality Project), and alongside experts from the UN Food Systems Coordination Hub, Duke-NUS, ICSC, and leading climate organizations.

We are immensely proud of Francis, Krizza, and Hodaifa for taking active steps toward building a resilient, clean-energy future. We look forward to seeing how they apply these skills and networks to their research and projects at FCCS! 💚

Over the past two days (16–17 September 2026), we had the honor of hosting Prof. Suresh Chandra Srivastava, Adjunct Faculty at FCCS, AIT Thailand; Institute Fellow & Retd. Professor, IIT Kanpur, for an inspiring masterclass on global power grid security, modern blackout prevention, and sustainable microgrid integration.

Day 1 Highlights: Major Grid Disturbances & Blackout Remediation
Prof. Srivastava examined the growing complexity of modern interconnected networks and the unique stability challenges posed by renewable energy integration. Drawing from key historical events: including the 2003 US blackout, the 2012 India blackout, and the 2025 blackouts in Chile and the Iberian Peninsula where he broke down root systemic causes and detailed modern automated control strategies to safeguard future grid stability.

Day 2 Highlights: Green Technologies for Climate Goals & Rural Energy Access. Today's session focused on leveraging green technologies to achieve net-zero targets while ensuring energy access for underserved communities. Prof. Srivastava shared insights from a recent Indo-US field demonstration which brought renewable microgrids to isolated rural hamlets in India, boosting local agricultural yields and generating sustainable jobs.

A sincere thank you to Prof. Srivastava for sharing his expert insights, and to all participants who joined us for these two engaging sessions!

Bridging the gap between fundamental laboratory research and scalable industrial impact remains one of the greatest hurdles in clean technology. 🏞️

Earlier today at the FCCS Building, we had the honor of welcoming Dr. Goutam Kumar Dalapati, Chief Technology Officer and Co-Founder of HYDGEN Private Limited, Singapore, for an exceptional presentation titled "Scaling Materials Innovation: Pathways from Research to Commercialization in Photovoltaics and Hydrogen Technology." ❄️🌡️

As well as Prof. Bhaskar Biswas, FCCS adjunct faculty, and the professor in department of Chemistry, University of North Bengal, India under the topic of “Emerging Prospects of Metal-organic Frameworks for Sustainable Energy Solutions and Combating Climate Change.” ⛈️

Dr. Dalapati outlined an actionable roadmap for researchers and deep-tech entrepreneurs striving to overcome commercialization barriers in the energy transition.
And Prof. Biswas has guided us to the summarized the design of MOFs and the operando electrochemical activation strategy for producing smart electrocatalyst which derived from a pristine metal-organized framework towards sustainable green hydrogen production. 🍃🌍💚

A sincere thank you to Dr. Dalapati and Prof. Biswas for sharing his technical expertise and industry experience with our community. Turning deep science into resilient, real-world solutions is vital for building a sustainable future. 🌱:•.🧪
