On January 7, 2026, the 𝑭𝒂𝒄𝒖𝒍𝒕𝒚 𝒐𝒇 𝑷𝒖𝒃𝒍𝒊𝒄 𝑷𝒐𝒍𝒊𝒄𝒚 warmly welcomed new students joining the 𝐽𝑎𝑛𝑢𝑎𝑟𝑦 2026 𝑖𝑛𝑡𝑎𝑘𝑒. The event brought together esteemed faculty members, staff, continuing students, and newly admitted students to connect, exchange ideas, and share experiences.
On this occasion, the Dean, 𝘈𝘴𝘴𝘰𝘤. 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘧. 𝘛𝘩𝘪 𝘗𝘩𝘶𝘰𝘤 𝘓𝘢𝘪 𝘕𝘨𝘶𝘺𝘦𝘯, delivered a warm welcome address and introduced the Faculty’s recent transformation into the Faculty of Public Policy, establishing on the Asian Institute of Technology’s long-standing strengths in development studies, governance, and interdisciplinary research. Dr. Nisha Onta, a distinguished SERD alumna with a Master’s and Ph.D. in Gender and Development Studies (AIT_GDS) , Department of Development and Sustainability, AIT is a leading voice in gender-responsive climate and natural resource governance. She currently serves as the Regional Coordinator for Asia at WOCAN (Women Organizing for Change in Agriculture and Natural Resource Management) and is the Founder of Governance Lab, Nepal, driving inclusive leadership and evidence-based policy action across the region.
Her journey reflects SERD’s commitment to nurturing changemakers who translate research into real-world impact for sustainable and equitable development—locally, regionally, and globally.
