📍 MSU Expands Collaboration to Japan: Dean of Faculty of Veterinary Sciences Visits Muroran Institute of Technology

On June 6, 2025, Asst. Prof. Dr. Sukanya Leethongdee, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences, Mahasarakham University (MSU), joined the university delegation led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Prayook Srivilai, President of MSU, on a study visit and academic collaboration meeting at Muroran Institute of Technology, Japan.

🎯 The primary objective of this visit was to enhance and expand international collaboration, particularly in the areas of research, innovation development, and student and staff exchange programs.

The MSU delegation was warmly welcomed by Prof. Mizushi Matsuda, President of Muroran Institute of Technology, along with senior administrators, faculty members, and staff from the university’s International Collaboration Center. Key activities included:

🔹 A strategic meeting with the President to discuss potential Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) agreements and exchange opportunities
🔹 Policy exchange on international collaboration frameworks

🔬 Laboratory tour in the Department of Biology, where:
• Prof. TOKURAKU Kiyotaka and
• Asst. Prof. KURAGANO Masahiro
presented research in molecular biology and biosynthesis

💻 Visit to the Computer Science Laboratories, hosted by:
• Prof. WATANABE Shinya
• Prof. OKADA Yoshifumi
• Asst. Prof. NISHIHARA Kei
• Asst. Prof. LU Yan
Topics covered included artificial intelligence, software engineering, and embedded systems

🔬 Tour of the Materials Science Laboratories, where:
• Prof. KAMEGAWA Atsunori and
• Asst. Prof. Siree Burapornpong
shared insights on advanced materials and industrial applications

🏫 The delegation also explored the campus facilities, including the International Exchange Building, Library, Student Center, and Cafeteria

✨ This visit marks a significant step in Mahasarakham University’s mission to internationalize its academic and research agenda, aiming to raise the quality of education, research output, and graduate competitiveness on the global stage.

🎯 Faculty of Veterinary Science, MSU Joins the Launch of International Research Collaboration “FarmAquaNet” to Combat AMR through the One Health Approach

On 27 May 2025, Asst. Prof. Dr. Tarid Purisotiyo, Associate Dean for Administration and Organizational Development and a key researcher from the Faculty of Veterinary Science, Mahasarakham University, participated in the official launch of the FarmAquaNet project at the Mandarin Hotel, Samyan, Bangkok.

The project, titled “FarmAquaNet: A One Health Framework to Assess the Risks of Antimicrobial Resistance in Aquatic Ecosystems in North-East Thailand and Inform Mitigation Strategies,” aims to establish an integrated, interdisciplinary collaboration to address the growing challenge of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in aquatic environments, with a focus on Northeastern Thailand.

The event featured academic presentations from leading experts from the University of Glasgow, University of Stirling, and Thai partner institutions such as Chulalongkorn University, Kasetsart University, and Chiang Mai University, along with policy stakeholders and private sector representatives. Participants engaged in in-depth discussions, stakeholder dialogues, and interactive workshops to identify strategic research directions and define priority actions.

This initiative is funded by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) under the Southeast Asia Collaboration on Infectious Diseases scheme and supported by the Agricultural Research Development Agency (ARDA), Thailand.

The Faculty of Veterinary Science, MSU is proud to be part of this meaningful international research alliance, contributing to sustainable solutions for public, animal, and environmental health in the ASEAN region.
