SIM Frosh Orientation & Parents' Meeting 2026
The Faculty of Science, Mahidol University, hosted the "SIM Freshman Orientation & Parents' Meeting 2026" at the Faculty of Science (Salaya Campus) to officially welcome new international B.Sc. program students and their parents. The event aimed to prepare students for university life while fostering collaboration among the Faculty, students, and parents. The event welcomed more than 400 participants, including new students from the seven international programs—Biomedical Science (SCBM), Bioresources and Environmental Biology (SCBE), Materials Science and Nano Engineering (SCME), Bioinnovation (SCIN), Chemical Innovation and Technology (SCCT), Actuarial Science (SCAS), and Industrial Mathematics and Data Science (SCIM)—together with their parents.
The opening ceremony was presided over by Associate Professor Dr. Prasit Suwannalert, Dean of the Faculty of Science, together with the Faculty's executive team, department chairs, academic members and supporting staff from the International Programs. The event was moderated by Associate Professor Dr. Pathompong Johns Saengwilai, Ms. Namami Waitayakul, a second- year student in SCBE, and Ms. Aliya Zheng Housaiyin, a second-year student in SCBM. Assistant Professor Dr. Narin Nattawut and Associate Professor Dr. Kulthida Chaitheeyanon, representing the Faculty of Science Alumni Association, also joined the event to welcome and inspire the new students.
The morning program featured an orientation session by Dr. Tana Taechalertpaisarn, Assistant Dean for International Partnerships and Data Management, covering university regulations, academic support services, student welfare, and campus facilities. Students also attended a special talk by the Mahidol University Library and Knowledge Center, "Unlock the Library: Your Gateway to Resources and Services," introducing essential learning resources and library services.
An international lunch at the SC1 Building provided an opportunity for students, parents, faculty members, and staff to meet and connect. In the afternoon, the Academic Session allowed students and parents to meet program directors, academic advisors, faculty members, staff, and senior students to learn about the curriculum, study plans, and university life, while asking questions and receiving guidance for their academic journey.
