SEADOM - Southeast Asian Directors of Music

An association of institutions in Southeast Asia involved in professional music training.

SEADOM is a Southeast Asia cultural and educational network, which was established in 2008. Its goal is to represents the interests of institutions that are concerned with training for the music profession. SEADOM has had participation from over 35 member institutions in 10 Southeast Asian countries since 2008

SEADOM works for the advancement of Southeast Asian Higher Music Education and, more ge

nerally, of music, the arts and culture in contemporary society and for future generations. It does this through providing support, information and expert advice to the specialist institutions offering higher music education, through engaging in advocacy and partnership-building at Southeast Asian and international levels and through measures to raise understanding and enhance standards of higher music education across the Southeast Asian higher education area and beyond. Whilst music is the primary focus of SEADOM, dance and drama are often taught alongside music in the specialist institutions represented by the Association and, under those circumstances, its mission actively embraces these disciplines. The statements made here, and in the Aims, Objectives and Values of SEADOM, should therefore be regarded as also applying, where relevant, to these sister performing arts.

🎶 That’s a wrap for the 15th SEADOM Congress 2026!

Over the past three days, the 15th SEADOM Congress brought together colleagues, educators, artists, and leaders from across Southeast Asia and beyond in a vibrant celebration of music, collaboration, and shared vision.

This year’s congress was made possible through the wonderful partnership of three outstanding institutions: Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, LASALLE College of the Arts, and Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music—a true example of collaboration, creativity, and community spirit. From inspiring talks and thought-provoking discussions to exciting performances and warm reunions, it has been an unforgettable journey together.

Thank you to everyone who joined, shared ideas, and helped make this congress so meaningful, fun, and inspiring. 💙

Today’s morning highlights include the Keynote Address by Robert Cutietta, “The S*x Life of Orchids (and Conservatories?)”, followed by a session on Youth, Music, and Mobility Across ASEAN, bringing together perspectives on music education and collaboration across the region.

This afternoon features a variety of exciting parallel sessions and workshops, including the CreaTeME International Project, rhythm and improvisation workshops, and discussions on creative approaches to music education. The programme continues with a collaborative performance by CreaTeME, an innovative Telematic / Distributed Performance by Electronic Music, Pop, and Jazz students, and later this evening, the Hidden Sessions: Experimental Music Series.
