Meet our Featured Speakers at the 2nd International Research Conference on Language Teaching and Learning on 26-27 March 2026.

Dr. Myrel M. Santiago is an Associate Professor at Tarlac State University. Currently, she is the Department Head of the English Language Studies Program and the Program Head of the Master of Arts in English Language at the College of the Arts and Social Sciences. Her recent work in English Language studies is “Pedagogical Innovations that Defy Nativespeakerism in Oral Communication courses,” published in The Routledge Handbook of English Language Education in the Philippines (2026).

Todd Phillips is an English instructor from New Zealand teaching at a university in Tokyo, Japan. He holds an MA in TESOL and focuses on communicative, learner-centered teaching. His presentation, “Pointify” Your Classroom, shows how a class points system can engage low-level English learners, lower their affective filter, and make participation enjoyable. Through real classroom examples, he demonstrates how earning points can transform student attitudes toward English learning, leading to more confident participation and improved attendance.
