On September 16, 2026, the Faculty of Public Policy and Sustainable Development (FPSD) at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) hosted its second Policy Dialogue of the year, titled "𝗨𝗿𝗯𝗮𝗻 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗔𝘀𝗶𝗮". The event brought together academics, researchers, and students to examine how sustainable urban growth requires far more than physical infrastructure—it demands inclusive public policy, inter-agency governance, disaster preparedness, and attention to vulnerable communities.

Distinguished keynotes and regional panelists highlighted critical pathways for the region’s urban future. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pechladda Pechpakdee emphasized the need for stronger institutional coordination across city agencies; Prof. Pennung Warnitchai focused on earthquake risk reduction, structural vulnerability, and seismic standards; and Prof. Punam Yadav introduced the concept of "relational infrastructure," calling for inclusive urban planning centered on care networks, accessibility, and marginalized groups. Discussions also tackled the balance between smart city technologies, AI, data privacy, and meaningful citizen participation.

As FPSD Dean Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thi Phuoc Lai Nguyen noted, policy dialogue is an essential necessity to bridge research, policy, and practice in an uncertain world. Full video proceedings are available on FPSD's YouTube Channel, with upcoming sessions scheduled for 𝘖𝘤𝘵𝘰𝘣𝘦𝘳 21 (𝘚𝘦𝘤𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘋𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘭𝘰𝘱𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵) and 𝘕𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘮𝘣𝘦𝘳 18 (𝘙𝘦𝘧𝘶𝘨𝘦𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘔𝘪𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯).

New students from the Development Innovation and Sustainability (DIS) and Public Policy (PP) programs at the Faculty of Public Policy and Sustainable Development (FPSD) participated in a fruitful study visit to two Royal Thai Government institutions on September 23, 2026. Accompanied by FPSD Dean Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thi Phuoc Lai Nguyen and Dr. Panjadach Singtho, the delegation visited the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives (MOAC) in Phra Nakhon, Bangkok, and the National Assembly of Thailand in Dusit, Bangkok.

During the visit to MOAC, students received an introductory briefing on the Ministry's core functions and responsibilities from Mr. Krongsak Songraksa, Deputy Secretary-General of MOAC, and representatives from the Office of Agricultural Economics. The briefing focused on Thailand's agricultural policies and strategic initiatives designed to build a sector resilient to economic, social, and environmental shifts. Additionally, Mr. Kiattiyos Thongsaga, Director of the Academic Affairs and Planning Bureau, presented on behalf of the Agricultural Land Reform Office, highlighting government policies and land allocation strategies aimed at ensuring equitable distribution of the country's land resources.

In the afternoon, the group proceeded to the National Assembly of Thailand, สำนักงานเลขาธิการสภาผู้แทนราษฎร , to observe an ongoing parliamentary debate firsthand.

The study visit provided our students with invaluable, real-world insights into national governance and policy formulation, laying a strong practical foundation for their academic journey at FPSD as future leaders in policy and sustainable development.

FPSD extends its sincere gratitude to the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives (MOAC), Agricultural and Land Reform Office (ALRO) and the National Assembly of Thailand for their warm hospitality and for sharing their valuable expertise with our students.
