Preparing FIBNH Master’s Students for Their Thesis Journey!

The Food Innovation, Biotechnology and Nutrition for Health (FIBNH) Program at the Faculty of Food, Agriculture and Natural Resources - FFANR, AIT successfully organized a one-day workshop on Proposal Writing, Data A**lysis, and Scientific Manuscript Writing for senior Master’s students preparing to embark on their thesis research on 19 August.

The workshop provided students with foundational knowledge and practical guidance to support the key stages of their upcoming thesis from developing a strong research proposal and analyzing research data to effectively communicating their findings through scientific manuscripts.

The sessions were led by Dean Prof. Anil Kumar A**l, Assistant Professor Dr. Sandi Darniadi, and doctoral scholars Mr. Abhishek Khadka, Mr. Nabindra Kumar Shrestha, and Ms. Jamie Beth Basngi Galian, who shared their expertise, practical insights, and firsthand research experiences to guide and inspire the students as they prepare for their thesis journey.

A sincere thank you to all the resource persons and students for making the workshop an engaging and productive learning experience.

Seminar on Dietary Fibre & Gut Health at FFANR

The Faculty of Faculty of Food, Agriculture and Natural Resources - FFANR, AIT, Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), successfully hosted a seminar on “Interplay of Dietary Fibre Architecture on Gut Microbiota Dynamics” on 7 August 2026.

The seminar featured Assoc. Prof. Sushil Dhital from Monash University, Australia, who shared valuable insights into how dietary fibre structure, resistant starch, cereals, legumes, and tubers influence gut microbiota, fermentation, and the production of beneficial metabolites.

The session brought together FFANR students and faculty members for an engaging exchange of knowledge on food structure, nutrition, gut health, and sustainable food systems.

Prof. Anil Kumar A**l, Dean of FFANR, welcomed Dr. Dhital and thanked him for sharing his expertise and insights with the AIT community. He also appreciated the active participation of faculty members and students.

AIT Students Explore Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Revitalization in China

Four students from the Faculty of Food, Agriculture and Natural Resources - FFANR, AIT , Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) had the privilege of participating in the Training Program on Agriculture and Rural Revitalization: Enhancing Cross-Cultural Communication and Chinese Language Skills, hosted by Yunnan Agricultural University (YNAU), Kunming, China, from May 5–19, 2026.

The two-week program combined academic learning with practical field experiences, providing participants with valuable insights into sustainable agriculture, rural revitalization, AI applications in agriculture, cross-border e-commerce, and the food and beverage industry. Field visits to Yunnan Agricultural University, Yanglingang Village, and the Kunming Flower Market enriched their understanding through real-world examples and interactions.

Representing AIT were:

Thanakorn Pasangthien – Agricultural Systems and Engineering
PIM Tamrongratanasilp – Food Engineering and Bioprocess Technology
Laphatsiree Hadphichai – Food Innovation, Nutrition and Health

This international learning experience strengthened cross-cultural understanding, fostered knowledge exchange, and created lasting global connections among future leaders in agriculture and rural development.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Yunnan Agricultural University for the invitation and warm hospitality. Special thanks to Dr. Lu Yao (YNAU), Zhao Yuchi (UNESCO - INRULED), Dr. Suleeporn Bunbongkarn (Chaipattana Foundation), Wang Qi (UNESCO), and all organizers, lecturers, and staff whose dedication made this program a great success.

Protecting Tilapia Starts Before They Hatch.

Groundbreaking research from the Faculty of Food, Agriculture and Natural Resources - FFANR, AIT , at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) is transforming the future of sustainable aquaculture by exploring how vaccination of broodstock can strengthen maternal immunity and protect tilapia fry from the earliest stages of life.

Conducted by our recent doctoral graduate, Dr. Andrea N. Pardo, under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ha Thanh D**g, from the academic program Aquaculture & Aquatic Resources Management (AARM), AIT, this pioneering research demonstrates how maternal antibodies can be transferred from vaccinated broodstock to their offspring, paving the way for improved fry survival, reduced disease outbreaks, and more sustainable aquaculture with less reliance on antibiotics.

This innovative work reflects AIT-FFANR's commitment to advancing science that strengthens global food security, promotes sustainable aquaculture, and supports healthier aquatic ecosystems for future generations.

A Warm Welcome to the FFANR August 2026 Intake!

The Faculty of Food, Agriculture and Natural Resources - FFANR, AIT at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) proudly welcomed its new students during the FFANR Orientation Program, held today, 4 August, at the Milton E. Bender (MEB) Building in a hybrid format, bringing together students both on campus and online from around the world.

The orientation began with a warm welcome from the Dean, faculty members, and staff, who introduced students to the vibrant academic community, support services, and exciting opportunities that await them at FFANR. The session also provided an opportunity for students to meet their professors, connect with fellow classmates, introduce themselves, and learn more about their academic programs and life at AIT.
