Congratulations 🎉 🎊 👏 💐
Congratulations to Mr. Rattapon Khamlue and Miss Petcharaphorn Chatsiri, Ph.D. students under the supervision of Dr. Watcharaphol Paritmongkol from the School of Molecular Science and Engineering (MSE), VISTEC, for their new publication in the Journal of the American Chemical Society (J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2025, 147, 41, 37242–37254)
The article “Chelation-Driven Dissolution and Single-Crystal Growth of Hybrid Metal Organochalcogenide Semiconductors by Polydentate Amines” reports a novel solution-based method that, for the first time, enables previously insoluble metal organochalcogenides (MOCs) to be dissolved and recrystallized. By employing specially designed polydentate amine solvents, the authors successfully dissolved MOC powders and carried out a recrystallization process that yields large and high-quality single crystals, allowing structural determination of 15 MOC derivatives. This discovery not only resolves a challenge in MOC crystallization but also establishes MOCs as a new class of solution-processable semiconductors.
We also acknowledge the valuable contributions from the group of Asst. Prof. Dr. Pichaya Pattanasattayavong (VISTEC), Synchrotron Light Research Institute, and Institute of Science Tokyo, to this outstanding achievement.
