Previous trombone professors include Günter Innerlohinger, originally from Vienna, now living and working in Brazil. Dr. Sean Scot Reed, now teaching at New York University, where he chairs the brass department. Philip Brink arrived in July of 2007 and found a state of confusion due the absence of any specialist teacher over the previous academic year. It was chaotic, but after a few months of reo
rganizing all was well. Dr. Michael Robinson, Jr, who has been with us since 2017 and moved back to the United States to join the faculty of Bowling Green State University. At present we are fortunate to have Thanapoom Sriwiset, who joined the faculty in 2024 as a Trombone Instructor. Over the years, many students including Master’s students, undergraduates, and Pre-College students have passed through our program. The majority of the trombone class consists of performance majors, with a few in the Music Education program, Music Technology and Music Business courses. The main activity of the Studio is teaching in private lessons. Apart from lessons, the Studio offers Undergraduate and graduate classes in Trombone Literature, classes in Trombone Pedagogy and Ensembles. Smaller ensembles change from term to term, but the Big ensemble is remain every semester. In the past the Studio have been also assisted by graduate students such as Norrasate Udakarn (Pop) and Tanapong Chaiburus (Turm). Satit Chomchewchan (Ton) who has also set up the Studio's page and Thanapoom Sriwiset (Em) who became a Full-Time Trombone Instructor in 2024.
