Galileo Maritime Academy is looking for a reliable and experienced Cook to join our team in Phuket.
We are looking for someone who is organised, proactive, and able to manage the kitchen independently in a structured training environment.
This role is not about fine dining or fancy presentation; we are looking for someone who can consistently prepare good-quality, healthy everyday meals for students and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare daily meals for staff and students (breakfast, lunch, and dinner as required)
- Plan and rotate menus with a variety of international dishes
- Accommodate vegetarian, vegan, and halal meal requirements when needed
- Manage provisioning and shopping independently
- Maintain food costs within budget
- Keep the kitchen clean, organised, and hygienic at all times
- Efficiently manage food stock, storage, and portioning.
Requirements:
- Previous cooking experience required (restaurant, hotel, canteen, café, yacht, or similar)
- Able to cook a variety of international everyday meals
- Creative with menu planning and able to avoid repetitive meals
- Comfortable cooking for larger groups during busy periods (30–40 people occasionally)
- Confidently manage daily lunch service for approximately 20 people (Monday - Friday)
- Good organisation and time management skills
- Very tidy and hygiene-focused
- Able to work independently and take initiative
- Must be able to drive for provisioning and shopping
Work Environment:
- Daily lunch service for approximately 10 staff plus 3–20 students depending on course schedules
- Breakfast and dinner service is usually for smaller groups of 3–7 people
- Some days involve staff meals only (Monday–Friday)
