TU Genetic and Bioengineering

TU Genetic and Bioengineering Genetics and bioengineering is one popular of sciences recently in the world so our goal to teach and educate genetics to students for current needs.

Trakya University Genetics and Bioengineering Department
Genetics and bioengineering which is one popular of sciences give the fastest growing opportunities for employment and this field presents an increase in progression rate through the world in recent years. In this context, Turkey is poised to become the European Union region's engineering and technology, so the appropriate genetic engineers

and bioengineers of the new century's engineering degree are needed with an increasing emphasis. Therefore, Trakya University Faculty of Engineering Department of Genetics and Bioengineering has been opened this year in undergraduate program because of these current needs mentioned above. The aim of the Genetics and Bioengineering program;
• Training in the technology used in basic medical sciences, as well as in agriculture and engineering sciences,
• raising Genetics Engineers and Bioengineers having fundamental and technical knowledge of genetics, bioengineering, and biotechnology, who provide novel and innovative solutions, play leadership role in domestic and international academia, industry, and government agencies and who are aware of ethical and professional responsibilities.
• training students providing resolutions in the fields like academia, industry, clinical medicine, and forensic medicine by educating them with current topics; such as Molecular Biology and Genetics, Bioinformatics, Nanobiotechnology, Tissue Engineering and Biomaterials, Stem Cell Technologies and who become leaders to provide competitiveness in national and international platforms. Trakya University Department of Genetics and Bioengineering; in addition to subjects mentioned above will be served also in the agricultural area an food science which are primary sectors in Edirne and Trakya region especially in breeding and genetics studies such as plant and animal breeding and genetics and other aspects of bioengineering applications. Because the industry in Edirne is mainly based on agriculture (vegetable oil, dairy products, flour and flour products, etc.) and also with regarding to the agricultural industry, evaluation of agricultural wastes, bioproducts, production of natural resources, improvement of yeast technology in dairy products, value-added vegetable oils high products etc. Therefore; the department will contribute to the development of education and research aspects of genetics and bioengineering topics and agricultural areas not only in Edirne city and the all province and also Balkans which the main income is agriculture. Graduates from department is expected to easily find work in the academy, industry (pharmaceutical, agricultural, food, biomedical, etc.), clinical medicine and diagnostic centers, forensics, international research centers and laboratories with public institutions, Seed companies, IVF clinics, IVF Centers and international biotechnology and biomedical company representatives in Turkey has a strong demand for genetic engineers.
